Veteran @ 39'000 feet is "awkward" but it is also very good fun, I got some useful pointers/suggestions off You Tube, tbh I combined the routes and different techniques/tactics people had suggested for clearing each room, I used what I found worked for me, imo the most awkward room in the level is the very first defended room directly after the conference room/table.

To try and put it in simple terms its not the fact that you have to complete the level in 59 seconds what’s important, the most important aspect is that your on target and you keep going forwards getting the checkpoints, it also helps if you get a few headshots ;) if you can get to the stairs with 30ish seconds then you should be able to get down the left hand side of the plane and rescue the VIP within the time limit, I also found that its important to use Flash-Bangs effectively and not run into the next room/section with an empty clip, use the time you crawl forward or wait for the check point to clear (hull depressurises etc) to reload both of your guns, alternatively if you are out of time and bullets just pick up/swap a weapon, people have found this can save seconds and if your lucky you can pick up a fully reloaded shot gun or a P90, blam blam flash-bang Woooohoooo :)

Lol thankfully i'm not and i hate it myself. I don't mind sitting in a window for a little bit but i just get itchy fingers and go running off, getting myself killed lol.

Grrr, I did the Shock & Awe helicopter bit on Hardened today so easily and yet on Veteran I last about 5 seconds at the start :/

Also, don't stop moving forward untill you reach the small wooden wall just before the stairs - after you've reloaded you can be at the bottom of the stairs with 35 seconds left. Due to the silly amount of tries I had at this level I got the first floor down perfectly. Don't try to kill everyone in the first room you throw a FB into - just kill the ones in your *** and sprint out to the next area and hide behind the seats - immediately throw a FB and move behind the little wooden wall - where you should go prone - your allies will kill everything else in the room and you can just sprint up the stairs with at least 34 seconds on the clock - I managed 38 seconds once.

Can't really give you advice for upstairs as i have only managed to complete that part 2 times :)

fantastic little game all-round

Multi is fun, have managed to rank up to level 13 or 14 in 4 hours or so - mainly play that domination game for fun, but have found S&D to be a points hog!!

As for single, good stuff so far - going for it on Hard, found the TV station crippling, though am now stuck on the retro sniper mission, the final bit with the choppers - cant get past it no matter what i do - i just get raped - there must be a 'money' spot to camp out in??

Actually there is - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu9zzkVWfuw
That vid was apparently done on hardened only, but i can definately say it works on veteran, as thats how i did it in the end - i found camping out behind the bumper cars was way too stressful and basically impossible to get back to the helicopter.

Also just read this:

If you use all of your claymores / C4 BEFORE you put Mcmillan down, you will be given another 10 claymores and 6 C4

you get a good 15 seconds or so to plant claymores :)
Nah, that's the ferris wheel bit, which I've already done. The shock and awe heli mission involves you bombarding enemy troop positions with your cannon as you fly by in a helicopter. About 5 seconds into the mission I'm dead, whereas in Hardened it's a piece of cake.

Ah right. Only managed to do that bit by spamming and luck :)

I'm just flying through this game on recruit to get all the intel. Makes you realise how awesome this game is and how the fustration of playing on veteran makes you forget that.

Loving it

veteran adds to the game imo. it would be pretty boring if you could just wander through areas without trying at all. I mean on recruit you can walk right in to the tv station and casually wander around. Hardened is an ok alternative as its slightly more forgiving.

The only bit that really did frustrate me was the mile high club on veteran, simply due to the enclosed space and the time constraint. To complete it within the time you need to do a near perfect run always on the move.

On the majority of the levels if you take your time and use a bit of strategy you can get through without too many problems - although i do remember a few quite hard bits along the way. This might just be me personally, but if a game like cod4 didn't have a challenging difficulty level i feel lots of the single player experience would be lost - i mean its a totally different game for the worse on anything other than vet :(

I don't agree, the spawn points make it ridiculous at times meaning you literally have to charge a checkpoint so you can't take your time and use strategy.

I completed it on veteran as I played it on that from the start. There is no way I'm intel hunting on it though.

Certainly is the way to play the game I agree, just that it's nice to not have to do the same bit over and over. You end up forgetting the storyline
