Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Official Thread

Right done it on the controller breaking veteran :D

Well pleased but not something I'd rush to do again :)

Missed the TV's and the intel, shoot down a heli and of course Mile High Club but I think I can live without them for now :D

Suppose I might accept some multiplayer invites now....

Well I 'finished' it this Sunday morning. Had to take my time playing it sparingly on Vet and still found it an utter piece of cake. I just used the same 'rush & push for the checkpoint' tactic that I have used in the other CoD's.

I was stuck for quite a bit on the finale of the Ferris Wheel map. With no claymores it was always going to be a challenge but I managed it this morning after waking up. I just hid by the bumper cars taking out baddies, before luckily gunning down 3 gits as I picked up the injured soldier and carried him to the 'Choppa!'. The magically spawning grenades in this section of the game are nothing but pathetic. I loved the Chernobyl part of the game but GTFO grenades pls.

War Room = Piece of cake. I did it the first time round with little problem. Zakhaev was taken out the first time round, much to my surprise. However - I have one section I have left till last - Shock and Awe....

The map where you start off in a chopper and have to take out baddies on the ground and on buildings (not the easy gunship mission). Now, I die in less than 5 seconds here no matter what I do! I take out 3 tanks, and a 'nest' of baddies on a roof and I still flipping die. I am at a loss how to pass that bit. I'll return to it at a later date.

Deffo the last CoD I'm ever playing. Got to sell this thing later without the gf finding out somehow lol (xmas pressie).

I don't have the time to even dedicate to play online anymore. I've even given up on TF2 because of that reason. I know the game is for multiplayer but I'm just not interested - especially being one of those players who waited ages and ages for a CoD2 patch, and then a CoD3 patch back during the day. I just can't see myself bothering with it.

I swear if I see another grenade by my feet, the cod disc will get smashed to bits :) Luckily I've got a daft helicopter mission remaining :D

I bought the game again last night. I was stuck on a mission that was annoying me so much I sold the game.

So anyway, after another hour of trying, I finally beat the bit I was stuck on.

Someone invites me to an MP game, so I save and quit, then join the game.

I turn my console on this morning AND IT WAS BACK TO THE BIT BEFORE!!! ARRRGH..

Luckily I beat it again this morning after another 15 attempts, still got a few more bits before I am where I was when it didn't save properly. This game is so frustrating at time.

I am trying to like the MP but I can't help but feel I am missing out as I have the PC version sitting in my PC, and the online is so much better with a mouse and keyboard :(

Sigh!

Still getting stuck on the, what is for me, the most annoying level i have ever come across - yes it the good old mile high club.

I can get up to the stairs with 30 seconds to spare on average - which looking at youtube videos seems to be more than enough. I always get owned at this bit and/or spend too much here and miss out.

What strategies did you guys use at the stairs part as I'm i'm slowly loosing my sanity :(

EDIT: its also annoying me ten times more when i watch videos where people get to the VIP with 20 seconds to spare using only the pistol/knife/flash bangs, grr.

Can see your point about grenades in cod2, as no grenade indicator appeared. But in cod3 and 4 you get a good 2 seconds with a flashing grenade indicator in the center of the screen to throw it back. I've noticed enemies only start to throw grenade if you stay back and hide too much. If you push forward they dont use grenades much at all.

Hello mate, sorry missed your post.

I've done Mile High on Expert, on the stairs what I did was flash t eh first room towards the back of the room, kill the three guys (one on either side and one in middle) flash the next room and moev straight up to the shelves where tehre are more flashbangs. Don't forget that there is a guy who will be behind you.

Pick up the new flash bangs and flash the last row, there is a guy as you look at the room on the far left back row in the corner, make sure you take him out. Head up the corridor and take refuge in the alcove. Two more guys around the corner. You either have one flash left (there or there abouts) or just go take them out. Sprint for the door, then take the kidknapper out. On expert you have to hit them in the head (low levels you can two shot them).

And that's about it. There are videos on youtube how you compelte this which you might find handy, but they are done in essentially the same way as I described above, but better sicne you can see it happening!

Its so annoying. I get up the bit where you pick up the extra FB's with 19 ish seconds left. At least I've worked out a method of getting to the stairs part fairly quickly - i was waiting around way too much before. E.g. can get to the stairs part about as quickly as this guy

Have give up on youtube videos, as it makes it look way too easy, when it isn't (imo)

/sobs

No it isn't, but it's about being ahead of the game. E.g, stop thinking and do it, type of attitude. Need to have quick gun changes and quick flash bangs on the move.

if you have 19 seconds whilst you have those flash bangs, flash them and run towards end of corridor, whilst running through a bang around corner and take the two out tehre. At most it'll be 3.

Then straight to the door.

hehe harsh but true :)

I can usually make it to the end but more often than not that guy kills me from behind :( :(

Wasn't trying to be harsh, it's just a change of attitude that every one needs when facing a really tight time challenge.

The rest of your squad will help you, you don't have to kill every one

The one top left, and the ones at the very back you have to kill. Do that, get into the alcove and then move forward, the team will take the rest, or should.

Praise the lord!

Have just done it. As the first part of the second level was literally destroying me, i decided to try something different. After throwing a FB and killing to two guards immediately in front of you, i ran up to the first wooden wall on the second floor. Not only can you shoot through the wall, but you team seem to push up a lot and kill everything in sight. After i had reloaded behind the wall and got the extra FBs the corridor leading to the VIP was empty bar 4 guys. After throwing a FB down the corridor i didn't even need to shoot anyone at all - just the two guys with SGs who come from round the corner. I even got to the VIP scene with 5 seconds to spare.

YES! YES! YES!

:)
