Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

Nice pics BFG 9000.... Thats got to be the tidiest looking case i've ever seen... Great cable management m8... :)

Could you not hide the power on cables under the Akasa foam mat, and just cut a little slit in it for the cables to pop through and connect to the motherboard? Or is the mat stuck down now? Just a thought... Hehe... :D

i believe it will be hidden once hes plugged the rest of his stuff in, BFG got a OCD with this case :p takes his time, where as i rush and tidy up afterwards :p


no problems for the help, that top clip is a pain, silly chubby fingers :p

Will post some pics hopefully by the evening... It will be empty inside as its a new system build, and undecided as yet on cpu/mobo/ram to put in it, but at least you see what i've got to work with... :)

BTW... That Akasa mat, how big is it, coz its not cheap, is their just enough when you buy it to do the bottom of the case? Whats the dimensions of it? Thanks...

Well guys, last day of using my Akasa Eclipse :( we've had good times together but alas I've felt the need to water cool and I'm waiting on all my kit and a V2000. Guess I'll haev to find a loving home for it now.

Some details from one of my Akasa posts about the Akasa Pax-mate Absorption Mat Kit

The Akasa Pax-mate Absorption Mat Kit I find an excellent way of finishing the Eclipse in looks especially when it is fitted with a windowed side panel, the kit comes with two pre-cut mats of which each one fits perfectly at the bottom of the case, and a roll which can be cut to any size that you choose... The only part of the Pax-mate I use is the pre-cut for the base of the case which is purely cosmetic, and a little piece to block off the rear openings by the PCI card rail, to stop any cool air leaving the case from the front 120mm fan, keeping the case cooler..and it works.. Overall noise diffrence as you ask is no diffrent, as stated I have only used it to give the base of the case a better look.. When installing the the lower pax-mate mat don't peel off the backing as it will be very difficult to remove once fitted, I usually take mine out once a month to shake any dust that has accumilated at the bottom of the Akasa.

Think i'll get the Akasa Pax-mate Absorption Mat Kit, as it does look nice in the bottom of the case, and i'm sure i can find other uses for it... Hehe... :)

Nowhere near as slick as Troops way of fitting a PA120.3 with this case, but my first attempt at water cooling is finally finished and working a treat! Made a few mistakes, but learnt plenty from the experience. Problem is, I now want to build another!

39-41'c idle, 49'c under load. That's running at 3.4GHz (425x8) on my E6700, in a room that's 22'c. We keep the heating on permanently due to the baby. When I was using my AC Pro, I was 58'c idle, so massive improvement! Plenty of room for further overclocking if I needed it.
 
i found that my temps drop a lot aswel once i got my cooling in (pics on previous page :) ) i want to get a custom cooling on my graphics and i believe i would be done on the cooling side of things :)

i made the mistake of buying a thermaltake tsunami 3 years ago, cost me 70.00 quid from oc, mine was the windowed black model. it was ok until i got my psu sleeved with uv reactive braiding which left the cables a little less flexible hence cable tidying became very difficult. i was gonna buy a new psu a few weeks ago then i thought why not get a new case. so i purchased the akasa eclipse 62. after my 24 inch monitor its probably the best pc investment ive ever made, the space inside the thing is incredible, the slide out mobo tray is a joy to work with especially if youre gonna use a big cpu cooler (just slide out the tray mount your cooler and of you go) you can practically build your rig outside of the case, and as for cable management there are so many nooks and crannys to hide cables you cant go wrong. my opinion get the eclipse then later get the side window panel:)
 
Yay just rebuilt my eclipse with my dualcore gaming rig as I need it for work, thought i'd restructure all my systems.

It's almost completely silent! Paxmated the floor and roof, shoved the rest of it in gaps (not stuck to side panels), rubber washers on the drivecages attaching them to the front, 5v'ed every fan. The only things I can hear are the drives powering up/accessing (samsungs, so very quiet) and the tickover of the psu fan. Lovely!

Will get some pics, before after etc up in a second :)
 
Many thanks to everyone who has offered advice on what case to purchase, I took all the advice on board and have now decided on what case to buy.

Unfortunately its not an Akasa Eclipse 62... there was a late sway of interest on the case front :p I have now decided that I want to get a desktop case as I want to move away from constant upgrading and it will be more practical when I move to my new place.

I have decided to buy a Thermaltake DH101, I am looking to get the model with the standard VFD and remote. Unless I win some cash on the lottery I really can't stretch to the model with inbuilt 7inch touch-screen :p It does look a great case and every review I have read has rated it highly.

Thanks again to all that offered advice, it was much appreciated :)

Not built the system yet mate. Got all the bits in my signature apart from the graphics card and memory (even though I have listed them :D) so going to drive down to ocuk on monday morning to buy 8800GTS and the Ballistix Tracer, as soon as I have have built the system (next weekend) I will post some photos mate. :cool:
 
AMD 6400+ Build Progress Part 3 :o)

Finally finished putting the XFX Alpha Dog Edition 512MB GTS and the Creative X-fi XtremeGamer into the Akasa Eclipse. A little bit of cable management. As you can see I like the clean look giving loads of room for air flow, all worked first time and running very fast.. hope you like my work...;)

Thanks Sgt_Pepper..;) I have found butterfly nuts are so much easier to use when attaching fans to the case, using these you can remove or replace fans with complete ease. Unlike methods like the fan screws which have to tear into to fan to make a thread, or the rubber fan mounts which are just to fiddly to use. The butterfly nuts I have put black rubber washers behind to absorb any vibration from the fans, and they also have that *Retro* look that I like...:cool: The ones I have in the case are chrome plated and look really effective in a black case, also enhances the look of the Akasa fans as well...;)
