Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

looking good bfg :) need to tidy those cables thou! they make baby jesus cry :p

Thanks M8...:D Really pleased on how the build went..;) Got all the drive bays out of the case and anything that was not needed, maximum air flow and space is what I was after. Shaped the two SATA cables so they had a wave effect, rather than tucking them away... apart from that got it down to bare bones...:D Will have a final tinkle on presentation this afternoon...... :)

Very nice pictures BFG, with the two hdd cages out there seems to be loads of room available and that must be great for airflow too. Can you pull the cpu power cable up slightly? In one of the pics it seems to be lurking quite close to your heatsink fan.

Thanks M8... As you can see from this picture the CPU power cable has a natural wide loop and it is well clear of the HSF (5 inches to be exact) ;) loads of room for air flow :) Certain angles in pictures can make things deceiving...

This is my effort - cant be arsed to make that much of an effort with the wiring though

What's inside
Q6600 (was an E2180 but found it didn't have the grunt to play back H264)
Gigabyte P35DS4
2gig Crucial ballistix 6400 DDR2
Powercolor HD3850 - 1st ati card after being with Nvidia for donkeys years. I'm not happy with the cooler on this card at all, 85C WTF?, I may get an aftermarket cooler for this - any ideas?
Seasonic S12 430 - left over from previous build
LG GGC-H20L dual format drive
WD 2500AKS HD - Dont really need a big HD at the moment as its main job is to decode hi-def discs & output them to my projector (sanyo Z3) downloading HD content when it become available & cheap later ;)
Sythe mine cooler with a 120mm nexus fan in it - didn't think the stock fan was up to the job of cooling a Q6600 properly
2 nexus fans - left over from a previous build again & a Sharkoon 1000 (since moved to my other pc & put the stock akasa fans back in, one tied & dangling over the HD3850)
Cyberlink remote & USB sensor - wanted this for the cyberlink software only.

This is where it lives

It good to see that Akasa has kept the Eclipse design on the Omega, the grilled side panel I can see people still buying the optional windowed panel to go on this case to show off all there nice shiny compnents (like me), would have been good if they also had included a roof mounted 120mm fan with grill, its one upgrade that would have been welcomed, but still the Omega looks good but I am still not keen on door designed cases... I do like the original Eclipse front ... but thats down to personel taste ;) We can't like all the same things now can we..:D

good thing about the revised door design is that you can now put fan controls on the front panel

Do you have any pictures on the Omega to show the improved space given behind the revised door panel to accommodate fan controls... will be great if it can :D Haven't seen any other pictures of this case apart from the one thats posted..

havent seen no proper reviews or pics but many sites have mentioned that there is space for front panel devices

AKASA OMEGA!

The fabled Eclipse chassis but with a full Aluminium front panel!
It also has an eSATA port on the front panel, the back of the door structure has been changed to accommodate 5.25” panels with knobs (i.e. AK-FC-03 or Creative sound card)

On my Mirage I cut out 3 pieces of plastic so I could have my 3.5" fan controller "flush" with the front of my case. I dont like the design of the new door on the omega, the mirage with a alu door would be cool though :)

Not built the system yet mate. Got all the bits in my signature apart from the graphics card and memory (even though I have listed them :D) so going to drive down to ocuk on monday morning to buy 8800GTS and the Ballistix Tracer, as soon as I have have built the system (next weekend) I will post some photos mate.

Any updates on your new build..;)

whats the best way to hide SATA cables in this case please ?

the bottom of my case is a right mess - I have 3 HDDs in the lower HDD tray - and currently 45cm SATA cables, but you end up with a right spaghetti right around where the graphics card air intake is - not ideal.

I'm going to buy some 20cm SATA cables which will hopefully help, but any other creative ideas please ?

If you mount your HDD's backward, theres a small opening under the front fan round the back of the hdd cage its a bit fiddly but you can send your SATA cables and power cables through and then the wires are hidden behind the hdd cage

I'd also recomend shortening the gaps between your sata power plugs, they can be removed easily and placed closer together to avoid cable build up.

I hope you're happy Mr.BFG, you've cost me quite a bit of money this week. :p

Excuse the terrible pictures and awful quality, only have a mobile to work with...

Still abit of work to be done, but I'm quite happy for now as this is the first time I've put any care into my case.

Any advice on how to tidy it up? Or tricks with the case I might not know about?

Excellent work 10/10  looks so much better M8... Cable management can be a nightmare when you have more than one Harddrive, I myself as you know have just built my new *Akasa Eclipse 62 V2* case as shown by my previous posts (3 build posts) and kept the cabling to the bare minimum to create more space for airflow and overall presentation, you will be suprised in what you can achieve with a little bit of time tucking cables in nooks and crannies... Again well done on building an excellent case, looking forward to any more pictures...;)

Hope these pictures of my latest build will give you some ideas... :)
