I think i've sorted it now.
It connects with no APN, no username and no password in EDGE settings but if I put random letters in these fields then it doesn't connect!

Also i presume there are no problems using iTunes with this after it's been unlocked.

You can use iTunes perfectly fine after it has been unlocked. You don't need to get a contract, and so many people have unlocked them I doubt they would be able to force everyone to sign up anyway.

thats right. i mean come on, they must have known what would happen when they dropped the price - people wont be buying them for a new o2 contract, it'll be to replace their phone on their existing contract.
 
It would be interesting to see the stats for the number of units sold compared to the number of new iPhone contract signups since the price drop :)
 
Well i think im gonna buy one and make a little profit on it from the 'bay. Ill need to unlock it first, so ill see what its like when i test it. Just to make sure it works of course ;)
 
i really want to purchase one but have no idea which sim/plan to get, i'm looking for unlimited web use and that's pretty much it.
 
Probably easiest for go with O2 Pay&Go and just get the web bolt-on for £7.50.

The only thing is Mail app doesn't work and apparantly you dont get full EDGE speeds.
 
have two months left on my k800i, can i buy an iphone now and put my sim straight into it? Then when its time to upgrade my contract just change it to the 02 simplicity? Or is it locked to the k800i?
 
Would it be disgustingly over-indulgent to buy an iPhone now and then sell it, at a loss, to get a 3G iPhone just because "i want"?
