BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

I lurk more than post and am looking for a home 24" to supplement my work 24" because anything smaller will no longer do! These forums are very useful -and I nearly went for this monitor. Now I am looking at another brand (probably a Dell or Samsung for under £300). I will live with TN!

hopefully ocuk will have my monitor now, and should find out relitvly soon whether i get a refund or not, in the mean time ive bought a samsung 245B as it was cheap and is regarded as a good monitor apart from restrictive viewing angles.

they also stocked q-tec psu's for a very long time even though everybody condemned those awful bloody things. it'll be worth it for them im sue, but only from a sales point of view.

The only people who condemned those PSUs were the enthusiast community, such as those on these forums. I'm sure a lot of people who are not enthusiasts who had these PSUs installed in their systems are blissfully unaware what PSUs they have and probably dont even care.

Without any solid facts and figures though, we will never know.

not that i want to get into a discussion over q-tec, but those psu's were failing left right and center, with loads well under their rated capacity and the people selling them knew that. And they continued to sell them.

Sure i read way back in postings, A guy has 3 of these bought at different times

Not seen him posting probs

Anyways, Wish more would post here or other thread with probs or no prob and panel type etc

Keep your details flowing people :)

Been reading this thread on and off for the last few months, since like everyone else I'm interested in a cheap non-TN 24", and the number of people with issues I've seen is way more than 'a handful'. In particular I've seen quite a lot of people with screens developing a line of dead pixels, not to mention DOAs and port problems. Can't say I'm surprised since the only Digimate I've owned (an L1816D) was DOA too.

As for the 'they wouldn't be selling them if they were unreliable' argument, you should read OcUKs staffs opinion of Acer products, but they're still selling them. The costs involved in returns are probably passed onto Digimate, and even if they're not the costs of a few couriers (I'm sure they have very good volume rates from City Link) from 1 in 10 customers isn't going to outweigh the profit from the other 9. Most people with issues probably go straight to Digimate anyway.

I'm not saying the screen isn't worth the hassle btw, it's such a bargain that it probably still is IMO, but that's a seperate issue from whether it has an above average failure rate.

I've had a Q-Tec PSU blow (literally, including big flash, bang and lots of smoke, lukcily it didn't take any components with it) btw :)

You think you guys have problems with OCUK?

I ordered the Yuraku version of this monitor from "another supplier" and it's DOA - blue led light is on but wont display any image - tried different cables and gfx card ports - nothing. But here is the real shock - it's physically damaged and I mean not by accident - the stand has been snapped clean off from the back of the monitor - one screw is rounded off and the other three are missing - looks like someone got frustrated and just snapped the stand off. Why it's ended up with me in this state is anyones guess but I noticed the box wasn't sealed or anything - did I get someones previous return?

The grass isn't always greener etc.

Waiting to see what the "other supplier" is going to do about it.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you get it sorted out quickly.
My DGM monitor box wasnt sealed. Monitor was great though.

Looks like Digimate have done a runner with my monitor after 3 months.
Over the last 2 weeks, no one is picking up the calls.
Anyone got any ideas of who I can contact, short of police and how do I contact them.

Surely its time to start court proceedings against them?
Also, you might want to think about reaching some sort of compromise with DGM, unless you happy to continue waiting months/years for a monitor that may never materialise, ie. ask for 2 19" monitors, for example, instead.

I dont think you can use https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp against them. The problem is that OCUK are the people who took your money, hence, I dont think you could claim money back directly from DGM.

You would need to take OCUK to court, the only problem is that they dont have your monitor and never took it; DGM did.

This is why it wouldve been best if you had insisted OCUK collect your monitor. This way, the reseller is wholly liable and DGM are not your concern.

You could visit your local citizens advice bureau.

EDIT: if you want though, you can seek legal advice and begin the legal process against DGM. You must also start listing the money you are spending on recovering this monitor, eg. phone calls, letters, etc., so keep receipts and bank statements.

Failing this, you can use charm and speak to OCUK, hoping they get involved.

Always start applying pressure to the people you have a sales contract with, in this case OcUK. Applying pressure here is easier as you have consumer legislation on your side, in this case the sales of goods act (you were essentially sold a lemon).

Trying to sue DGM could be difficult depending on the wording of their warranty terms. If they don't specify a time the repairs will take then you'll find it difficult to challenge them with breach of contract (this is the same problem I had with acer, 12 weeks to get a monitor repaired).

Judging by how slow DGM are at getting back to me I'm beginning to think there policy of getting back to me within 8 working days might be accurate, it may simply be their 8 working days equates to 365 in anyone elses book :D

Just tried ringing their support number for the 11th time today, no answer......................

My patience is now running out, I cant say their customer service is bad as something has to exist for it to be rated

The people who sold the monitor to you HAVE to help you out within the first 12 months, don't let them fob you off.

Why go through DGM at all? Ask the shop to give you a new one. They have to.
