Easyriders Cinema Room

Niceone whitecrook.:)

Looks good that nice and clean..

IME Hole+grommit works well if you have a BUNCH of cables, like enough that they pretty much fit snuggly into the hole . e.g. 10 coax cables. And you can feed the bare cable through and terminate after. And don't want to remove the cables later.

But brushplates like these work better for a couple or 3 of cables, particulary with things like Power plugs, or DVI plugs that can't be easily removed as there is much more room to feed stuff through. But if you put too much in it looks messy. Of course YMMV.

Not Knocking it its a really good idea.

Yeah. I only got the idea after seeing that website I linked. I'm not sure that there are other folk even doing brush plates. There certainly wasn't a couple of years ago that I could find. As a one off I may have bought one, but when you need a few it adds up.

Great thread, will keep watching. I plan to do something like this once I move to a bigger place.

Out of interest is you house detached?

Yes its detached.

Quick update:

I have finished all the platerboard :) and had the plasterer around to give me a quote.

He's coming next thursday and said could I knock some more nails in :p

Thanks Davy644;)

I actually apologised for a few gaps and he said for a DIY noob I had done a good job! :p

Will post a pic of before the skimming and after the skimming for you :)

Really looking forward to this phase as I'm sick of the sight of plasterboard and the room will look more like a room and not a building site!

He said a couple of days drying with some heaters in and I can get on with the painting and fitting of the skirting.

Gives me just less than a week to fit the last electrical sockets, speaker sockets and wires, Cat 5 cable, coax and phono's

Today I made a channel in the front wall for the HDMI,Coax and audio cables for the TV.

I have done it in such a way that I can freely change the cables without touching the walls again

Here are a few pics of the LED Lights in place and TV HDMI cable.

Everything is now ready for the plasterer

Of course the wires will not be on show :p
