^ Need for Speed Shift ^

The videos don't show any of the skidding when turning into a corner. Some people say it's fine, some say it isn't? Strange. Should be getting mine tomorrow morning, so will have a play around with it.

I've noticed some people describing it as 'not arcade' like because it's hard to play with driver aids off.

That alone doesn't make it a sim, just hard to play - it's why it's hard that makes the difference and to me it looks more like it's just odd than realistic.

I wish there was a demo to try but I think i'm starting to realise why such a demo isn't coming out until a few weeks after release... :(

Its a game, and no matter how much you try a game will never be "real", if you want real, get in a car and drive to your local race track.

For me NFS covers enough for a sim, but is easy enough to pick and play for a bit of fun as and when i want too.

Mine turned up early.

I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt but all I want to do is go back to LFS and rFactor after only playing for a couple of hours.

On the plus side the visuals are very good, extremely well finished and the cockpit view does well with the sound and visual combo. Its clear a lot of effort has gone into it but I don't like the effects when you crash, fine if you head on into a wall at 150 but when someone gives you a light tap at the back... no.

My main gripe is that cars don't seem to have enough inertia or momentum, maybe its just me but it just doesn't "feel" right. I do wish I had my G25 to give it a real good go but playing with a 360 controller doesn't bring it all together imo. Sometimes you think that its ridiculous to go through a corner at such a speed and sometimes you have no traction at all, doesn't seem to make its mind up.

Lots of cars to play about with and plenty of tracks but I'm going to swap mine for Dirt 2 I think.

It's not massively realistic, it is however brilliant fun.

A mate of mine is getting this on Friday so I'm going to try it out at the weekend, hopefully with my G25, I'm really hoping it has acceptable handling (ie nothing like GRID)
Well assuming it gets despatched in time and then doesn't get held up by the damn postal issues!

Assuming it does, you're welcome to set your G25 up on my machine :)

I tried this today. It seems very PC unfriendly, ie. it shoves you straight in to a race without giving you the chance to change your controls or graphics settings etc. And as far as I can see there is no option to quit a race, only to restart it?

Youve clearly only played it for 2 minutes. try a little longer, maybe 5 minutes

I have, painful experience though it was. The game seems very self satisfied, showing lots of unskippable boring videos / cutscenes. I haven't been able to play it other than on the keyboard so far as I can't see how to customise the controls. Does it work with a pad other than the 360 pad?

Other impressions, underwhelming graphics and dull as ditchwater gameplay. Not an NFS game except in name only.

The first "Race" is not a race...it's just to set the driver aids. Which can later be changed anyway.

You can also skip cut scenes and videos.
