Weekend Football Thread. 7-9 *spoilers*

Dive aside too that was an awful challenge that probably deserved a penalty anyway, he just didn't need to dive so obviously (he should have done what Rooney did against Arsenal)

And I think he's a good player too
How was it awful? He didn't get the ball, sure, and N'Gog could have just run into the challenge and fallen over without near as much fuss, but there was nothing awful about it. Perfectly legitimate slide tackle that was just millimetres off making contact with the ball. Not malicious, not a leg-breaker, not a two-footer, not awful in the slightest.

Indeed was never a nasty tackle, on the floor sliding tackle, are they banned now?

Back in the day that was how you won the ball kids!

and a damn sight closer to the ball than to N'gog.

:D

He dived.

As G|mp said, having to dive to draw against B'mingham at home :(

Anyway! I very much enjoyed the Dingles V the Blunts :D

I hate you. :(

I love you Cas :D

I would have liked you both to lose, because of the points situation in the league.

I was laughing so much when that Walker lad dived for a pen near the end, and then the Blunts striker scored after he escaped a red card for taking out a Dingle player :D

Great entertainment, wasn't much football played! lots of kicking / long ball tactics!

I suppose seeing how we "play" does make you realise why there are quite a growing number of supporters wanted Blackwell to be sacked. Our football is getting worse every game. :/

I really don't blame Kilgallon for wanting out, I'd want out if I was him, and I support them! :p

Ah well, I suppose I just need to hope Blackwell wakes up one morning and stops blaming the injuries, when his poor "tactics" don't help. :(

I can't believe some of you think gerrard is as bad as drgba, yes he likes to fall over but it's not even in the same league. Far too many people with an axe to grind me thinks.

Havnt seen ngog's dive yet but I assume it was pretty bad from the reaction. As a pool fan I really wish they'd sort out cheating, yes it annoys me when gerrard gets shot but it's not that often (should still be called up on it however).

Not dangerous, just poorly timed, rash and a bad decision.

Playing like Barca without the level of players that Barca have is never going to be that effective :p

I think in the Championship been able to play good long ball football is just bread a butter, you and me might not like it but it gets results (normally), I can add that United and Wednesday can both play football and both are known for playing on the floor.

I wouldn't be so sure about sacking him, have a bit of faith you have like 1 billion players out injured.

Sheff Utd were garbage Monday night, how they got anything out of that game I'll never know (oh wait I do, Battenburg the ****).

Never in the game at all, we controlled the game and largely outplayed them. The only criticism I have of our performance was Macken's finishing.

The first penalty was one of the worst decisions I've seen in a long time. Steele clearly gets a hand on the ball and you can see it's direction change.

The second is a penalty that gets given to Man Utd and Old Trafford, IE a soft one. The ref was gagging to give it, Hamill put his hand on Walker's shoulder, he goes down like Darren Moore has nutted him and the ref jumps at the chance. Soft as hell but I can understand why that one was given.

Blackwell's moaning about not having any first teamers to play was ****ing me right off as well. How much did Henderson and Evans cost again? £5M? More than our entire squad. That bloke needs to get a grip and stop making excuses for him being a crap manager.

I'm not worried about us though, there are far worse teams in the division than Barnsley.

I didn't think the Dingles were that good either Tom :p

You both should have had a player sent off towards the end as well!

You should listen to Praise or Grumble if you think Blackwell moans a lot :p

Sheffield United fans - moaning ***** :D

Except Cas ;) of course! :p

We had 18 attempts, the only 2 they had on target were the penalties.

We were by far and away the better side, although I must admit that was one of our better performances this year. Can't fault the team.

No one in their right mind can say Sheff U deserved anything from that match, I've had a load of neutrals telling me "you were robbed" this week.

Davies should have gone for them in the first half after trying to headbutt Macken. I agree that Shotton should have got a second yellow for the stamp on Walker, but it was in the last few minutes so wouldn't have made as much difference.

Praise or grumble and radio Sheffield annoy me in general. It's constantly about United and Wednesday, **** the other clubs. I prefer not to listen to it tbh.

I can see you've not listened for a while :p

Wednesday get on a couple of times a show and normally are just saying "well done despite losing" :D

Dingles used to come on to say the manager has to go, but since you've a new guy they've seemed to stop phoning.

United fans, well **** me! they are never happy. Most of the calls now are United fans.

Chesterfield get the odd call through, and Donny remain fairly well represented.

I agree Drogba is worse. He goes that extra step and fakes injuries, I've never seen Gerrard fake an injury. Going by Gerrard's comments in the media about diving, he'll obviously have a word with Ngog and tell him it's just not on. :p

I understand you need to be able to play good long ball in this league... But we really are no good at it.. And like Tom has said, even with all the injuries, we still have quite a lot of money on the pitch even with the injuries.

I don't call for Blackwell to be sacked, I would never call for a manager to be sacked - But I can't defend him anymore, and I can't wait until it happens.
