Weekend Football Thread. 7-9 *spoilers*

Pete Gill, maybe the single most disagree'd with man on Football 365, well done, that proves everything. He's so good that without question he looks a fool against any decent team, but doesn't embarasses himself against Wolves, a team that will be fighting for relegation, wow. The only sadder thing is Diaby indeed was embarassing himself against such a poor team.

I also won't point out that the goal came from a corner conceded by Song, from posession directly after Song wouldn't clear the ball but thought he could control and play it out of trouble but couldn't, for the umpteenth time in the game, oh wait, I did.

Song, reaping the benefits of Fabregas spending half a match defending. When Fabregas is up the pitch, Song concedes posession and it costs us, shocked, no. Come back when we play another top 6 side (not run by Redknapp) that he doens't look a joke in. Keep in mind Zamora has looked good lately against weaker teams, does NOT mean he's a great striker though.

EDIT:- also, I have Song down as a frontrunner also, because most pundits have convinced themselves he's done great playing against the bottom half of the table so has somehow turned his game around. That and the fact very few young players have been stand out players so far early in the season with the likes of Ireland barely playing so far. He did say front runner, it didn't implicitly say it was his opinion that Song has been brilliant.

Why don't you **** off TV for ducking out of the way instead of jumping to Challenge the incoming corner? Oh wait, you can't, your blinkers are on!

TV?

Because Song was the one that lost posession that led to the cross, stupidly, and thats what I'm blaming him for, not the corner.

But you're being blinkered, you're deciding I've based my decision to hate Song(i don't) on one single incident in every game, which again I don't. I don't like the way he plays football, I think he's a terrible footballer, he is shown up every time we play a decent team and the rest of you complained about him constantly until we got a run of games against poor teams in which he didn't seem to bad.

Its surprising just how many of our goals occur because of lost posession from Song, and or awful positioning/tracking back. Half the big goals last year were indeed at least partially his fault. The classic games against Liverpool were he and Diaby wouldn't track runs into the box and those 3 together contributed to the poor defence for all the goals. But don't let the facts get in the way, don't let the goals we've conceded get in the way. Insist he's a great player because defensively we , in our unbeaten run since playing The manchesters, managed to draw with West Ham and Fulham and concede in almost every game.

That a sure sign of a superb world class DM, almost no clean sheets even against the bottom 3.

It seems to me that other Arsenal fans opinion of players changes on a game by game basis ignoring the quality of opposition we play, everyone on this forum thought Song, Diaby and Denilson were crap, aswell as most saying Gallas was poor, Eboue is terrible, Almunia is terrible, Bendtner is terrible and the list goes on and on and on. I from the start thought Denilson and Diaby had decent potential, 4 years ago but for 2 years have thought they are poor, and have always thought Song was terrible. Song has improved, he's better than Diaby and Denilson, he's still a poor player and no where near the quality of the rest of the first team.

But when we play 5 top half teams in a run, and Song has a run of terrible games again, like he did last year, and you all change your minds again, and I still say he's crap and you all say I'm wrong again, well I'll be laughing on the inside.

Arsenal fans on here are so fickle, Diabys the worst player ever, he's great, he's terrible, he's great, he's woeful, he's great, he's the worst player to ever where the shirt, what a great double, Diabolical, Fantastic. But no, your opinions are clearly well thought out and not at all fickle.

You do realise there's a reason that almost every Arsenal fan thinks Song is doing a great job, along with the press and Wenger? But they're ALL wrong and you're right because you have spectacular insight and are very good at analysing football.

Also, you talk of disgraced football365 writers, he's a football writer, you're a nutter on a random forum who everybody thinks is a few cans short of a six pack, seriously, you're in no poisition to talk about failed football writers.

Did no-one watch football before this season? Referees have been slated for years and always make mistakes. No difference this season.

Actually the difference this season is that its been more highlighted due to Fergie going on some crusade about the standard of officiating...not saying i dont agree with him because from some of the games ive watched it seems to me that the Prem refs are getting worse and worse day by day.

Couldnt help but laugh at Liverpools draw with Birmingham...well done to the brummies for not capitulating as easily as some teams would have done ie Man Utd;):p

Oh the Irony, made my day!

I is a fishing!!!!:D

We could also mention how from under pressure we were to when song came on it went from 0-0 to 4-0...

But that would put a positive spin on Song..

Song has such a clear and obvious impact on the game (he turned it around) as soon as he came on that it's flat out retarded to deny it

Also, in Diaby's case how can we give him consistent criticism or praise when he's up and down more regularly than a lift. Diaby deserves huge praise/criticism depending on how he plays as he never plays alright, either great or poor. He has talent, just needs a better brain ..

No one who knows football can knock Song this year.

I agree that he makes the odd stupid foul, but he's in there to break up the play.

He's the most improved player in Arsenal's squad.

Im surprised at why DM feels the need to criticise Song...everytime i see him play he never fails to impress me...hes definitely come on leaps and bounds this yr...perhaps the leaving of Toure and Adebayor has given him the impetus to play a more solid game now.

Hes definitely one of the reasons why we are doing so well at the moment...hope he keeps it up for the rest of the season.

Diaby on the other hand??...hes like a yo yo with his performances...i wouldnt be sad to see him go along with Bender boy too.

I think he does raise a few good points though. As I've always maintained Song's the best out of a terrible bunch which isn't saying much. Just because he's improved shouldn't hide how bad he was before and how much he still needs to raise his game.

The majority of our opponents have been crap so far. He did well against Spurs, the next real test will be Chelsea. Would love him to do well against them but equally wouldn't be surprised to see him totally outclassed. The one thing that is pleasing is while he does foul on occasion, he seems to have the confidance to get stuck in there.

I think also the problem is that for once we're not blessed with M/DM's. Years ago our back ups included Ray Parlour and Edu, then later on Gilberto because Flamini immediately took up the mantle scarily well. It was only in recent years that we had to give up Diarra because he was itching to play. Then we realised that perhaps Denilson, Diaby and Song were too inexperienced, with only the latter really putting in any improvement.

Just watched the dive now and wow!!

If I was Carsley I would have given him something to go down for.

Ngog needs a ban and Liverpool need to be demoted a few league for being ***** ;)

Dive aside, I think he's a better player than people give him credit for.

Dive aside too that was an awful challenge that probably deserved a penalty anyway, he just didn't need to dive so obviously (he should have done what Rooney did against Arsenal)

And I think he's a good player too

Disgusting. Horrible. Vile. What kind of example is that to little scouse kids taking a break from lighting fireworks in the middle of the road.

Cut off his feet. See if you can take a dive now stumpy. :p

I have seen penalties given for a lot less than that. Carsley dived in and missed the ball. At that stage nearly all players will dive and the pro's will make sure to make contact to increase the chance of a penalty been given. Something that is nearly always forgotten is that contact does NOT have to be made for a freekick/penalty to be given.
