What film did you watch last night?

Fish Tank

Now there's your definition of the word gritty.

Nothing to look at but it terms of storytelling it was awesome, although I could have done the cinematography on it :D

The Prestige!

why haven't i heard about this before?

absolutely amazing film! got it on blu-ray today after being recommended by a friend!

Brotherhood (Taegukgi hwinalrimyeo)

I've been putting off watching it until now, but it was definitely well worth the wait; amazing. A little weak in certain areas of the plot and over-done on others, but I'm willing to forgive. A few moments definitely made the lump rise in the throat and the battle scenes are fantastic. The soundtrack was also very fitting.

It's the Korean's answer to Saving Private Ryan.

Passchendaele – I was expecting a film with a name like this to be about the horrors of the Great War instead it turned out to be a cheesy love story. Don’t climb out of the trench, I did and never came back.

Ink - Getting the most from this film you will need to see past the crappy makeup (Ink's nose and the path finders eyes) and you will find a very good and underrated film. Some great cinematography and action scenes coupled with a soundtrack that fits like a glove. This low budget independent film puts a quite a few big budget films to shame.

Probably one of the best films i've seen in some time.

Surrogates - I don't know what to think of this film, not sure whether I liked it or hated it. If I liked it then we're talking 7/10 at best, if I hated it then we're looking at maybe 3/10. ;)

Primer. Brilliant little indie film, made on a paltry $7,000 budget! A searing presuppositional commentary on the human condition, critiquing postmodern existentialism from the perspective of the Kantian metaphysic. :)
