What film did you watch last night?

Away We Go

Interesting movie. Nothing spetacular, nothing terrible. The soundtrack is amazing, married to the mise-en-scene perfectly. On reflection I think this film probably has a niche audience, but plenty of people will watch it without knowing that.

Still, it has comedic value that works and I did enjoy it, if thats the right word. Strange film thinking about it, its not about a lot of things but it is about a lot of things.

7.5/10 (worth seeing I think)

The Other Side 8/10

For a films made for $15,000 it is one of the best, gripping story with a few twists and turns, good acting and a high quality sound track. well worth tracking down!

Godfather part 2, best gangster film of all time, pacino is great as michael corleone, but robert de niro is even better as vito, such a pity we had to wait for heat, to see theese two fantastic actors in a scene together, and the scenes they did appear in, in heat were all to short.

Vicky Christina Barcelona

First thing i have to say, this movie was shot on location and having been to Barcelona myself, many many scenes were instantly recognisable, so that got a big plus from me. Second, Scarlett Johansson looked HOT and I mean, she oooozes sex in that movie.

Overall, I quite enjoyed it, it was a 98% dialogue driven movie, 2% being the pretty ladies and it was decent, not the best movie but it passes the time well. The performances are really good in it, and a few nice lines regarding love.

7.5/10

A Beautiful Mind – the experience of mental illness, great performances from Crowe and Connelly. It is a beautiful film. Find some time and give this one a play, you won’t be disappointed.

Agreed. A very good film.

I'm currently awaiting Das Boot Disc 2 from Lovefilm.. sometimes having the 1 disc at a time plan stinks..

Good Night and Good Luck.

Penelope Cruz is great in that film, her psycho-ness is quite a turn on. :o

Javier Bardem is just ubercool.

Watched Gamer and Up! last night, Gamer was your typical prison bloodsport film (the condemned, death race etc) It was entertaining and the concept was interesting, but the story was pretty weak. Switch your brain off and stare at blood and boobs for 2 hours. 6/10

Up was quite a surprise, it didnt sound like my type of film but i found that i enjoyed it none the less. Obviously aimed at the younger generations but there was enough comedy and a very touching story which kept me well entertained. 8/10

Not last night, but just now.

The Iron Giant.

Saw it when I was about thirteen and loved it. Got it again recently.

Ten years on and it is still an amazing film!

Watched The Spirit, though it was ok, nothing special
loved the style of the film, Frank Millers comic to film adaptations have been done pretty good imo

Based on The Iron Man ja? Brilliant film tbh. Wish it was out on Bluray. :)

Just now watched Jean Claude Van Damme in Time Cop. OcUK has no smilies to accurately represent how bad it was. :D

Stargate, speaking of which when's the 3rd one coming out?

3rd one? Not sure what you mean there.

There is the Stargate movie from the early 90s,
Then there was Stargate SG1 TV show (10 Seasons)
Another spin off created called Stargate Atlantis (5 Seasons)
Then there was a straight to dvd/bluray release of Stargate Ark of Truth (SG1)
Another SG1 straight to dvd/bluray release followed called Stargate Continuum
Recently there is a new show called Stargate Universe (Currently half way through season 1 on SKY 1 HD)

Coming soon is Stargate Universe season 2, another SG1 straight to dvd/bluray release which is set inbetween SG1 and Universe that focuses on Jack O'Neill and there is a Stargate Atlantis straight to dvd/bluray release coming soon too.

I think that covers it all :)

I own all on DVD/Bluray :)

Waiting for them to show in Heat was worth it though, that movie was absolutly fantastic.

Have watched the Spirit a few times and watched it again on Sky Movies the other day and agree it is ok but is the weakest of the Frank Miller adaptations that I have seen. I think for overall story and cinematography in Sin City still has it followed by 300. (Really should watch then again. Has been too long).

But having said that I kind of watch Fifth Element again for what must be the hundredth time (My number 1 fav film.)

Just finished watching Beowolf again on Blu Ray. For a CGI film it really is a well shot film, even if the acting in it is a bit over the top.

.

The Spirit isn't a Frank Miller adapt. He only directed it (and wrote the screenplay), the comic was made by Will Eisner in the 1940's.

I assume that's what you meant.
