Have you contributed anything worthwhile? Do you really think anything you have said in this thread will have enlilghtned anyone or encouraged anyone to think a different way? Or has it just helped to polarise further those that were already on the lunatic fringe of both sides of the argument - and made even more apathetic towards either side those in the middle?

I havn't read all your posts - and don't even know which side of the fence you sit. I would be interested to see if you thought you had achieved anything worthwhile in this 35 page discussion though.

If I could draw I would start one off without hesitation - as it is I will have a go at putting a new thread up later just for giggles.

No, I was just being humourous. 'Nit picking' references aside. :D

I don't agree with Beren at all. Although this is GD, some serious issues have been discussed in this thread, and injected with a little humour it is worthwhile and relevant to the topic in general.

If he wants to draw offensive cartoons let him, I don't see why the thread needs to be closed because of that though.

Nobody on this thread has changed their views as far as I know, but I would like to think I have contributed something worthwhile to it just like all the other on here repeatedly posting tit for tat, :D

Everyone just fights their corner & tries to put their point of view across, has anyone been offended ? undoubtebly, some considerably I expect but they don't have to keep reading it if offended.
Suggesting this thread should be closed was a no brainer on your part really ;) because the fact that it's got so long is more than enough proof that it's a popular thread even if for all the wrong reasons:p:p
Every thread on OcUk goes off topic if it involves politics or religion .

However you can redeem yourself with your own thread if you start one but I can't think how you would entitle it other than the' all new draw Mohammed day ' :p:p but how you will keep from turning into the same as this one I have no idea :D

Are you gay? You repeatedly tell me that I have suggested something which not only was not my intention but was also not what I said.

I only ask as you casting a suggestive wink at me seems about as likely to be a sub consciously homosexual pick up as my original post was a request to close the thread.

By your own admission all you have contributed to this thread is tat and a bit of tit. So surely you should be banned for breaking the rules and posting filth.

But Islam is not the problem it is a small subset of individuals and their interpretation of it..

I am not sure what this is a response to, this statement doesn't even relate to the quote aside from picking out a few key words and conjuring up the rest.

You seem to think all Muslims (who follow Islam) are 'intolerant', and 'kick off' at every reference; IF you were logical and detached you would see the fallacy of the statement, and you would have seen the content of my actual reply;

'you would have noted that MOST people registered their disapproval and it was left at that.'
this is not the same as:
'kicking off' or 'throwing temper tantrums at seemingly any questioning of its faith'
which you imply is the case

The reality is the people you have described who send death threats and so on are a small minority in a much larger group, so either you didn't understand/want to understand this or you had another agenda leading me onto the next question in my previous post;
Is your problem that people DO have a problem with the cartoons?

That's great! Then what's the problem then? We can all draw as many pictures as we like of religious icons and question and mock religion as much as we like...

Or are you suggesting if we do the above, more than just a 'small subset' might make an issue out of it?

It doesn't say much about you as a person but you are free to do so, however other people are also free to censor it accordingly.

More than a subset will have an issue with it, but will air their views peacefully, and leave it at that.

A small subset will send death threats and so on, but this exists in EVERY debating point. It doesn't matter what it is, you will find someone mad enough to do something inappropriate to push their view.
The difference is if they happen to be Muslim the papers will be all over the story like a rash

Humour has always be derived from/about larger than life figures? It's gone on forever, is healthy, and in many ways should be applauded.

The moment you can't do that, is when you know you have problems... (Hence this thread - We had some problems) Having to censor such things shows a serious lacking in a culture to be frank IMHO. What's special about Islamic culture that is should be examined/explored and even jibed a bit. It's healthy.

Seriously though! Name me a famous figure who isn't mocked or made the target of humour in someway... What should make a religious icon any different at all? It's utterly healthy!
