Oh sorry, I didn't realise you were still at school, I'll come & get you at playtime :p

When your a big boy with something intelligent to say maybe you can post something worthwhile on this thread

Pot...kettle...black;)

You know the saying...People who live in glass houses should not throw stones;)

no they weren't just like you weren't.

Yet tip top there is saying they should be censored but he shouldn't.

And then having a go at "lefties" for wanting censorship when it's him who wants censorship.

Oh for goodness sake. You have to choices here:-
- Stick to the important issue being debated here. Should a religion be able to dictate (by any means) what individuals say or think (especially in other regions)? Is one religion some how special in some way?
- Or yap around people ankles, picking and choosing non-points to try and make non-issues out of.

Sorry I forgot Homosexuality is bad... but if I'm a schoolchild it's ok to come on to me.

If you make it that easy another couple of posts and my response will devolve purely to 'your mum'.

I notice you didn't bother to address the issue that I have at no point said I wanted the thread closed. Merely that I wanted it to be more fun, less worthless argument. Since that seemed impossible to achieve I think a fun worthless argument seems in order.

Quote from your post : Actually sorry I just realised that apparently I can try to close a thread.

So we've gathered that your anti gay, enjoy insulting & laughing at Muslims & prefer threads with funny pictures rather than words :o
says it all really

Humour has always be derived from/about larger than life figures? It's gone on forever, is healthy, and in many ways should be applauded.
Re-read what i said,
Humor is supposed to be funny, people (like many in this thread) who go out of their way just so they can be offensive are whom i was referring to (i thought it was pretty obvious but it seems it wasn't :P)

but back to the question at hand;

We have established:
- Most Muslims (who follow Islam) are not making death threats and so on, so your comments about Islam are incorrect
- Countries/Media are well within their rights to censor material they deem unfit for their citizens/readership just as they do in this country
The media is not being censored and the majority of people you seem to be referring to do not want it to be,
So what is your problem with 'Islam'?

Well, if someone goes all out for offense, that's a different matter isn't it, but none-the-less, people are free to do this, just as it's other peoples' right to simply ignore it.

Surely one, is one too many? But more importantly (once again) people are actually having to change their behaviour because of these X people, which is just ridiculous... So if this totally peaceful 'movement' draws attention to this ridiculous (dangerous) situation, good. IMHO Islam takes itself a little too seriously, so all the more reason for such action as this. What better way to highlight this than in comical fashion?

Seems a bit of a medieval point of view given the matter in question. But yet, if a country wants to behave in a strange way, they're perfectly free to do so.

Good!

So what is your problem with 'Islam'?
I thought I'd been very clear about this. The only problem I have is where a culture/religion believes it should be able to dictate what other people believe/think/draw/say/depict about any religion. It's dangerous, as well as stupid!

instead of trying to close a thread

apparently I can try to close a thread. Do you think if I concentrate really really hard I could become a moderator for a moment?

At no point did I say that I thought that this thread should be closed. I was a little interested in how you thought I should go about trying to had that been my motive, which it wasn't.

Actually we can gather from this that where you draw three conclussions one will be completely wrong, one will miss the subject, and one will be occasionally be right.

Or complain about it.. as they did
The same way people do when they see something on the TV they deem unacceptable

Who has been forced to change their behavior exactly?

It's the same in this country and every other western nation, are they medieval too?

LOL! Well, one individual has had to change his breathing habits to start off with :)

And if we take the latest nonsense with South Park - which partly kicked this all off - the TV network caved in and censored the show after threats were made to the makers lives... Unacceptable, and to give into it just makes it worse... Hence much of this reaction we see now!

But generally for years everyones been walking around on egg shells where Islam is concerned. It's nonsense!

Will it be 'uncut', in the DVD version? yes
Therefore are they being forced to remove it? No
If you are disputing that the public broadcasters should ignore their responsibility to keep broadcasting within certain ethical boundaries, that is another discussion entirely.

As for walking on egg shells, if you look outside your little box
We are in a war, it usually is a good idea not to annoy the people who you want as allies to win it

You're clearly very blinkered. A lot of religious icons have been used for humour in South Park. The only faith that has resulted in 'death threats' and action on the scale we've seen is.... *drum roll*.... Islam...

Threats were made to the lives of the South Park makers, including person addresses being published. Given the previous history of people being attacked and even killed over such things before, unfortunately Comedy Central censored the following showing(s).

This is a very dangerous precedent... Hence Draw Mohammend Day was born...

Now if you're happy that a reglion should some control peoples freedom of speach, and for some reason individuals should not be permitted to talk about Islam, or worse still draw about it, then fair enough. But for the rest of us who are rather attached to modern freedoms, we don't like the idea.

And just to put this in context (again), we're talking about a cartoon depiction of religious figures, which anyone silly enough to believe in them, can be easily ignored by not looking. No other religions gets so up in arms about this, what is so special about Islam?

As for allies. Who wants intollerant allies? Tollerance is a two way street you know, so why should one side continually have to bend backwards.

Death threats aside (i doubt any of them would have materialized),
They did something which caused enough complaints that it was censored on the public broadcast and relegated to the DVD release.
I see nothing wrong with this, the content is of little relevance as it is a procedure most public broadcast companies follow.

Firstly no-one is stopping anyone talking about Islam, they do it regularly on many media.

Allies are not limited to countries, they include communities
It ironic you call me blinkered;
the situation is what it is, we started this fire and naive people like yourself seem to think there is no harm in pouring fuel on it.

That's where we differ then.

Any censorship was clearly not done due to complaints, but due to serious concerns over lives.

So let's set the scene - A continued mentallity of at best, 'righter than thou', and at worst, 'you must die for this,' has meant what in reality is completely harmless, and more importanly, HEALTHY, humour, scepticism and questioning is being stifled.

Imagine if for example, a leader of a country said no one was allowed to mock him, or draw cartoons about him, what would say about that? What does this show about the liberties this country? But somehow it's alright for Islam to try and enforce/require this kind of mentality?

No, no attention should be paid to it at all. To give it any consideration at all is one step too far.

Considering the number of people and religions mocked by South Park, why is in the only one that results in a fuss is Islam? ridiculous!
