Just been on the phone to o2

Looks ill have to pay off my simplicity contract and then start a new contract for the new iPhone.

Seems a bit silly that they cant just upgrade your current contract.

Atleast its only £100 something to pay off I guess.

im not sure im heading down there now. ive pre ordered one in the end. but might have to go still and get that one as well for the mrs. if i do ill prob get there for 7am they open at 8am
 
Just wish I could sign up to the existing Simplicity deal :(.

@Westyfield2 - I bet they are locked and it will cost to unlock them as per all other network provider policy - the O2 iPhone unlock was unique because they lost the exclusivity deal...

Total cost over 18 months PAYG handset + 30pm Simplicity - £1020
Total cost over 18 months £35PM +10% discount - £805
Total cost over 18 months £35PM - £859

Saving over £200, perhaps a slightly better deal with simplicity, but who is going to use that amount of texts?

I get 10% for loyalty & perhaps more as I work with a company who has an agreement with Orange.

EDIT: thats assuming you buy the handset from Orange with a saving, over Apple, unlocked.

I'm wondering what to do.

Have 18 months left on an Orange £35 per month iphone contract and would really like the new iPhone 4.

I'm wondering if it would be cheaper for me to buy on on PAYG than presumably what I'd have to do in buying up my existing contract and starting a new one?

And if I can do that, how do I get a new micro-sim for my existing contract?

just spoke to o2 and all she kept saying was that if i had registered an interest i might get a mirco sim in the post. if not then i will have to ring them once its released. fat lot of good that is when i have the phone not being able to use it

well i want payg because i have an old £20 simplicity chip that i get 600 min, unlimited net and 1200 text inc mms (at the cost of 4 normal texts).

Out of curiosity why did you go for a 24month plan in the first place? Just seems quite narrowsighted when theres always a good chance youd want the next iPhone - its understandable when people are forced on 18month contracts, but dont get why people bother with the 24month versions...

Had another call with Vodafone, they said they were expecting to release tariffs today, and expected deliveries to be on 25th if pre-ordered. They are awaiting head office to release pricing and tariffs first before taking pre orders.

If i was to get it on contract i'll go for 2 years too, as i will only buy every other iphone (gave 3gs a miss and will do the same for next 4 whatever).
