*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Do any of you know the answer to this:

I was going to do the early upgrade offer as I have 6 months left on my contract for the 3GS.

If I buy one direct from Apple (sim free I'm assuming at the 499 and 599 prices) will the iPhone 4 be compatable with the old contract, so I can use it for the remaining 6 months on my contract. Then simply switch to simplicity in 6 months time.

Would really appreciate an answer :)

(Also, can you take out O2 insurance on a sim-free iPhone bought direct from Apple?)

Suffering signal loss?

Apple have a new accessory

Not sure if you've read this in this thread - but someone previously posted that, although some of the screens are showing blobs of yellow and what not - apparently, it is because it is very new from the manufacturing process and hasn't has its "cooling-down" period...

Apparently, within two days or so, the blob will disappear.

I'll try and find the post for you :)

Hadn't read that, I'll keep you posted as to whether it disappears or not. Cheers :)

Sadly I think you'll be waiting a while as all the remaining stock everywhere (including Apple) is about gone. The Apple site states 14th July for the next shipping date.

I know the drill, I worked for them for two years. It's very mild and I'll happily wait.

Edit:>> Now I'm at home in good light I can't even see it. Maybe it was my paranoia. Hmm. This screen is obscene it's actually amazing.

Got sick of waiting for the microsim to start working and hacked up my normal one. Works spot on, I assume this one will cease to work and then the Micro Sim will be good to go?

Queued up for 3 hours in the reserved queue at Brent Cross - complete joke. The only thing that made it worthwhile were the hottie apple girls at the front - would have happily given my reservation for one of them! Will definitely being going there more often ! :)

Queue at Regent Street is massive. Reckon a good 2-300 people. No separate queue for reservations either :/

Arghh waiting for my sim to swap over is painful...

Phone is awesome so far, i queued for two hours in Brighton from about 7am for my reserved phone and am happy i did so far!

Apple has replied to the reception issue, stating in the following apple forum

"We are aware of the reception issue, caused by bridging the two antennas.

Our manufacturing process is being reassessed and from now on will fix the issue, for those who have already purchased the iPhone 4, if you wish to fix the reception issue, please enable airplane mode."

Was tempted by 02's

300 Mins, Unlimited Texts, 500mb Data - £30 month (24) & £179

but am more likely to go for 3's

500 Mins, 5000 Texts, 5000 Mins, 3 to 3, 1GB Data - £30 a month (24) & £99

Im at end of contract with 02, and 3 have better reception nationally. Must admit, not much keeping me with 02 here.

I got mine from Milton Keynes today :)

Was queuing since 7:00 after about 3 hours I finally got my 32gb iPhone4 I have to say I am well happy with it. I am so glad I got there early though the queue was
massive.
Also I am having no problems at all with signal strength at all.

All in all the phone itself is fantastic. Apart from the pro zombie soccer game doesn't work :( I'm sure they will fix that soon though

Further tests would appear to show this signal problem exists across the board on the iPhone 4.

Apple have said something jittery along the lines of 'its probably a software fault', but I cant really see how that is possible.

So basically, if you touch the top/middle of the phone with the bottom (connected by your hand/skin), your signal goes to hell. Pretty much the default position when using it.

How did this get through testing? Blimey.

As soon as I read about signal issues when holding it that was my immediate thought, essentially short circuiting. How did the phone bods who made it not think of it!

Does the review just stop after the inserted video for anyone else? No comments and it seems to run out, looks like i should be aiming for a second page but no button to click on to get there.

It does the same for me. :(

I nipped into work after I got it to activate it, now I'm restoring it at home it's downloading a 580mb iPhone software update. Wonder what that's about. Possibly just that we had the update on the Mac at work already and I didn't here.
