*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Have always gone double overhead until I struggle (160ish) then go to mixed grip

Get some chalk as well

Thank you :)

Well, currently the weight i'm pulling doesn't require chalk yet as its so small, but I will eventually so i'll have to find a source

Has your schedule settled down at all to allow any more Strongman meets? If it has then I'd definitely be up for trying it again, hopefully before the weather gets too miserable.

Had completely forgotten about that as its been so busy.

I'm training with Stu tonight so will see if we can sort out some dates

Haven't done it for ages so is really going to hurt! :o

i'll stick to cod liver oils and omega 3-6-9 tabs for now, as well as cod fillets.

the tatse from oily fish is so strong that even bleach couldnt kill it, i dont think theres a single meal i could have them in

Fair do's :)

Mackeral is one of the only ones I can safely say doesn't make my throat feel sick :p

But I can see where you are coming from, spilt one of those with sunflower oil in...stank for most of the day

First time back in the gym for about 2 months after moving house and a load of other things that threw my schedule and had me eating crap, but I managed to pull a PB 135kg for one up from around 120kg on deadlift.
I reckon if I went in fresh with just a little warm up rather than working up from 60kg I could hit 150kg easy.

Going back to the pita discussion.... :p

Which way do you guys cut into them ?

Mine ends up falling apart, and this is after toasting them

I toast them then cut in half then open up the middle.

Went for what I thought was 137.5 deadlift today, and it was actually 157.5 :o. Math fail. Managed 157.5 for 1 rep double overhand so not too bad though :p, the sets afterwards weren't stellar, and did some quick rep sets at 110.

Don't know :(

I need to try the toasting method tonight!!!!

If that doesn't work i'm damned for life to have random chunks of pita bread for lunch :(

You can sprinkle water on them, and put them in the oven for 5 mins but it's a bit of a convoluted way of doing things. Toasting them literally for about 40s is all you need to get them warm enough to open to separate.

As for not liking foods, that's why diets are so important and where people stumble and rely on supps. Nutrition from foods adds a lot to the benefits you get from mere supplements - it's where a lot of people fail in their quests, fussiness over foods.

Yea it had seperated, it's just when I tried filling them, they tore really easily. I guess I 'll try leaving them in the toaster a bit longer next time.

you dont want to leave them too long or else they will crisp up and fall apart when you try and fill them, its a dark art toasting them just long enough to puff up but not long enough to crisp

Now that I'm back in the UK it's time to start hitting the gym!

I went on Saturday and everything felt so heavy! I was just doing fairly high reps to ease back into it, and just doing a bit of everything, so after about an hour and a half, after some depressingly light squats and leg pressings, I decided to have a go at deadlifts. That was actually a pretty nice surprise because I got up to 130kg x 1 very quickly and only had to stop because my horrible sweaty hands couldn't grip - not bad after a 7 month deadlift layoff.

Went to another gym the next day with a friend for free (better than paying £6 for a single session, although I did milk that for 2.5 hours) and did all sorts of funny ab and adductor exercises... Basically today I can't want.

I wanted to say a big thanks to BennyC for recommending FitSpace, I went to have a look around today - great place, I joined right away!
