*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

You've never toasted a pitta bread? I dont think Ive ever had them dry tbh.

Also, saw a guy curling in the squat rack today >_> (80+ kilos with shocking form but still :o). The guy can lift quite heavy but has really shoddy form and wears a lifting belt for everything lol, also nearly threw a 42.5 kilo dumbbell that bounced across the room on rubber flooring after shoulder pressing it >_>

Day 1 of new routine - feels good to be doing some different exercises. Just getting a feeler into what weights to be doing where...

Chest and Tris:
Bench press 3x5 @ 65kg (failed this: 3,3,3 :()
Incline DB press 3x8 @ 17.5kg (too easy - need to up)
Flat DB press 3x6 @ 22.5kg
Dips unassisted - slow negs. only - 3x6
Cable pushdowns 3x8 @ 45kg (machine is very 'light' compared to other cable machines I've used!)

10mins jog treadmill @ 10km/h.

Well....i'm feeling nice today :D

Did another PB last night

Upped my Deadlift from 40kg to 50kg, managed about 6 or so, but before that was doing 40kg. So i'm dead chuffed about that :) :) :) Need more weight now though =/

Found it funny because I tried to do some squats after, so naturally you pick the barbell up safely ie deadlift style, and it was stupidly light :p

Anyway...finished off with some 10kg 'bentover' dumbell rows if that makes sense to try work my back a little bit more.

All in all pretty happy, especially with the 50kg DL, considering I did my first deadlift only 3 weeks ago, surprising how much I can lift considering I've never really trained in my younger years

Can anybody link me to a good Deadlift article which explains the form some more? I feel i'm doing okay, just I want to be sure, also any with pics help...Just read an article on T-Nation which was also quite handy.

With the Pita breads...

Microwve for about 15 seconds each and then cut a hole either vertically or horizontally into the midle of it and kinda carve out of the middle. Don't cut the thing open.

I've been using them this week and my first few were a disaster as well :D

I did deadlifts this morning. New PB for reps of 110kg 5x5. Sweaty palms let me down towards the end, I'm going to order some liquid chalk I think.:)

Hey...

Question (I'm new in the gym section so be gentle with me! :p).

I'm doing weights, running and the like - and try to eat protein such as lean chicken, fish (such as for example salmon) as well as have a healthy diet in general.

I'm considering ordering something like maxi-muscle (promax or something) for extra protein... but after doing a bit of research, though whey protein seems good, many in the body building / sports areas don't really seem to rate it (claiming that it's over priced and there are better products).

Anyone offer any suggestions, as I was looking at it mostly for the whey protein / muscle repair, or is this completely pointless?

Ive been doing stronglifts for about 7-8 weeks now and my strength has came along great, however now that Ive got the time and the desire to train more regular I think its time to move onto some body building.

Can anyone point me towards a good 5 day workout that will help me gain some mass and look like a unit this time next year :D
