Took a "Blobeye" Impreza STI PPP out today

lol.gif

I was fine until you told me I was talking crap. Then my world fell apart.

I was referring more to people like Fox, who will dismiss something purely because it doesn't sound right.

Either way, given that the PPP cars rarely make 300bhp, and will make even less on 95RON (lets say 275bhp for arguments sake) that is around the same figure that my car makes, but with higher transmission losses plus my car has more torque - I do not think it unreasonable that my car at least feels faster, do you? This was my point, I just didn't appreciate the ridicule for something that wasn't that ridiculous.

i think its purely down to the way your post comes across. almost everyone knows the scooby is faster alround but your post makes it seem cause u own focus its like gods go cart :D

been in focus cars up to rs and been in many spec scoobies and evos . not same league if honest.

You must have a very accomodating buyer. I'd be very annoyed if I bought a car and the seller said sorry actually you cant have it for a while as I need to drive it a bit longer.

I'm not sure where you get 275bhp on 95, nor do I agree that PPP cars rarely make very close to their figures (quite a few people paid something like £1500for it, and continued through to 08 paying for the PPP, with a huge community that has enough weight to either have started a class action or had their money returned).

It's a 5 year old car, who knows what has been done to it. It could be in limp mode for all I know or it could be running 350bhp. It could have originally had PPP, maybe Andy has mapped it since, different turbo, hose blown off etc. Maybe you didn't drive it right, maybe you grabbed it by the scruff of it's neck first time out and you found it lacking.

Regarding torque making the car feel faster...I can swap between a diesel, an awd twin turbo and a s/c'ed rwd with varying degrees of lb/ft peak and realise why when something feels faster, it's not always the case. What you said was:

in fact I'm confident that the in gear times of the ST are significantly faster.

Since then, I haven't seen anything that suggests that to be true. I don't think the scoob hides its speed well, but if you found it different, so be it. This is starting to feel like hard work.

Who says there is a buyer?

Oh Mike, you really do walk into this all the time dont you :D

The ST has gone.

Where had it gone then, for a walk? Somebody pinched it? You quite obviously meant you'd sold it. You never disputed ANY of the subsequent replies from people expressing suprise you had sold it either, so thats obviously what you meant had happened :p

Although i'm being a complete hypocrit by joining in this Mike bashing when i've been pouring scorn on you all week for it ...

maybe he lost it in the garage and forgot to look in there ? :D

Perhaps you missed the post just half hour later, on the same page;

I actually still have the ST, that goes tomorrow as well, but I stopped posting up for suggestions about my plans and ideas as I was criticised for changing my mind so much.

It's always the same isnt it - always contradictions. First you say the ST is gone. Thats a pretty final statement isn't. Gone. Then you say actually it hasnt gone, but it 'goes tommorrow'.

Yet in this thread you imply there wasn't even a buyer. So where was it 'going tommorrow'? Tesco for some shopping?

Have you even advertised it? :D

Well there is no buyer to be accommodating as you say, if I'm trading it in with the same dealer that has delayed my new car, is there.

The ST pretty much is gone. At the time, a price had been agreed, I had approved the new car, and I was set to hand the ST over the very next morning.

The dealer is the buyer.

Very unlike you to trade in for a car presumably worth less than the ST, though. You must know how much thats going to lose? Dealers never give anything like a favourable deal when there is no cash in it for them as well...

Actually,I didn't do too bad. I got guide price for my ST, which I was happy with and the dealer pulled most of their margin out of the new car (I know how that sounds, but no, really - benefit of 20 years of family buying from a large chain that can pull a car from another branch at cost).

Ok. You're wrong though. Apart from the bit about Mikehiow not being able to drive it properly ;)

This has intrigued me, I'm considering trying a classic RA to see if I can be converted. I'm a firm believer of trying anything once.
