****Official Fallout New Vegas Thread****

Thats a bit disappointing about the DLC, although i never had any of the DLC for Fallout 3 and didnt feel as if i missed anything.

I havent actually preordered this yet, i think ill try my luck at Tesco on the day and use my girlfriends staff discount.

I don't know about you but most of the addons were was great. Broken Steel added level cap, The Pitt had that whole thing of having to pimp up your gear again and point lookout had great quests too. Operation Anchorage was a bit dull but the items from it were great. Mothership zeta was the only one I thought was pretty average tbh.

I meant more that because i knew nothing about them, i wasnt disapponted about missing them :)

Im not a fan of DLC in general, just put it in the game FFS!

/old man rant

It looks very very very like Fallout 3... This may put me off buying it on release...

If it was a complete overhaul then I'd pick it up straight away.

It basically is Fallout 3 with a tiny bit of a polish and a new story. Its more the story and gameplay that does it for me though :)

I dont give a stuff about the story. I just want to roam around a place than I'm not familiar with again :p

I loved my early days in Fallout 3 when I didn't know where I was going, or what was over the next hill and when exploring a building was a genuine risk because you had limited ammo.

EDIT: Mine was posted from Jersey today too :) (says 3 - 5 days delivery tho :()

One negative i have so far is that the PS3 version I'm playing stutters every now and then. Can range from just a quick stutter to a few seconds.

Very offputting.

I never really finished Fallout 3 so playing this just seems like i'm playing that still. I'm going to plow straight through the story i think. Then roam around next playthrough.

that's what done it for me as well, just loved opening a door with no idea what was inside, i hope there are loads of caves and bomb-shelters/vaults to explore

but the story is also very important to me i hope it has lots of back story as well as i have never played the first 2 and turn based games are totally not my type of game

Bugger. I forgot that I'd preordered (in February), and got a dispatch notice today.... My telly has been broken for months, and I'm awaiting a phone call to say the part is in, due this week. Fortunately, there's a dirty great old CRT at work that I should be able to liberate for a while, oh my eyes are going to sting :/

Rent a projector until your TV is fixed, then hate your TV forever :)

Playing Fallout: New Vegas in hardcore mode is a revolution. You become a true wastelander, collapsing onto whatever roadside mattress you can find to stave off sleep deprivation, lapping dirty water from toilet bowls to hydrate yourself, going through every bin and abandoned building you can find for morsels of irradiated food and dying almost every time you venture off the beaten path. Skills that otherwise lurk at the bottom of your priorities, like Unarmed and Survival, become absolutely essential. Perks that you'd otherwise skip over become lifesavers.

It doesn't just make things harder – it's not a wasteland Hard mode that artificially gives mangy raiders thousands of hit points. It changes the whole way you play the game, completely altering your worldview. Ammunition has weight, so there's more of a reason to explore Fallout: New Vegas' vastly improved melee weapons. Instead of obsessing over your next quest goal, you're scouring the horizon for buildings that might have water, or a settlement that might have a doctor to heal your crippled limbs.

Hardcore mode sounds like a must for a true wasteland experience. Defnitely going hardcore on my first playthrough. Hope it's not frustratingly difficult though.

i realised i never played the last DLC for fallout3 at the weekend (bought it ages ago). completed that lastnight.

I'm now waiting for New Vegas to drop through the letterbox tomorrow :D

I saw a video where you can adjust if you find hardcore mode too challenging , i am interested in finding out how aiming down the sights with weapons works in new vegas which you couldnt do with some weapons on fallout 3 .
