Torres puts the ball in the net, but more often than not he (look at chalkboard if you don't believe me) fouls more than any other liverpool player almost every game, loses more tackles than any other liverpool player, and SHOULD be sent off. I think he gave away 10 freekicks in one of the last few games, most players would be sent off for that level of fouling, even girly little fouls, do 10 of them and you're asking for trouble.

I can't believe this comment, I don't think there's a player in the PL who gets fouled as much but is not awarded the free-kicks, he doesn't go down clutching his leg or diving for penalties and just gets on with it, many people who I've spoken to (fans of all clubs including Man U, Chelsea and Everton) agree that he is probably one of the most kicked players in the league and should go down more often.

No he is an excellent and very classy footballer. He gets a bit of stick for not flying into tackles from our fans but that's not his game.

He is great just not as great as Torres and Gerrard.

I still don't understand why people 'compare' transfer fees. It never was a linear chart of quality vs. price and it particularly isn't so even more these days.

Now that Benitez has left Balague's LFC tranfers stories are as reliable as everything else he writes. You only have to look back the other month to see that; he claimed that Pacheco was desperate to leave and then 2 days later Pacheco signed a new contract.

While you can never rule anything out, if Torres were to leave, I personally can't see him playing for another club in this league and certainly not leaving in January.

Sums him up perfectly for me. Other than the Wolves game where he ran the show, he's looked good in parts but has gone missing for the most part. It might be a case of getting used to the pace of the league but so far he's been overrun in midfield and bottled tackles.

Still far from convinced he's worth the £11-12m we paid.

edit: And talks between ourselves and Ajax over Suarez were held yesterday and are continuing today.

Well nobody else is reporting that Torres has asked them to consider the Chelsea offer, and I would have thought that would be fairly major news so would be covered everywhere. So it appears to me that its simply Balague pretending that he knows more than he does. (wouldnt be the first time).

I could understand Torres wanting to move on, but not in January, I would have thought he would look to move in Summer if he was going to at all.

Either way, I can accept his departure, as long as its to a foreign club.

Like I said last night I'm not surprised he wants to go tbh and when you look at his options he doesn't have many due to ties with his current and previous clubs, he cant join Real Madrid and cant join United so that really leave Barca (who dont need him), Inter if he was willing to go to a lesser league or Chelsea/City - I wonder if the latter will show interest now they know he's available/wants to leave Liverpool?

I was at the Fulham game, he was easily the best player on the pitch over 90 minutes.

I guess some fans don't rate him because he had some real stinkers when Hodgson was still about. He also wasn't especially cheep, and everyone at the club still uses Alonso as a yard stick for anyone playing in that position.
