January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Calm down!

I think he's just relieved to be out of Liverpool, as I'm sure most Liverpool fans would admit he deserves to be at a big club on the up, not one that is in (or was in until now) rapid decline.

If we are his Athleti, and it was obvious the owners intent he could have stuck around instead of being a selfish git, atleast we had propsects since new owners came and Chelsea deal wasn't done before then i'd imagine.

i know its not on the same level but this is what Tuncay wrote on his twitter after leaving stoke

"To all Stoke fans... Thanks for all the great support you've given in my time with you!! Special place in my heart..."

If Torres had atleast left that short and sweet message i'd be happy, but jesus christ straight in with a dig, he is very ****ed off about something.

JimBoardman: No wonder he ran off when Kenny came back. Really don't think Kenny would have stood for that kind of attitude.

JimBoardman: Torres quotes show a side to him we didn't know about. Should be fun when it mixes with the sides of Drogba and Anelka we do know about.

rorysmith_tel: Two things before bed: 'blow out of the water' meant #nufc - offer too good to refuse. Also, FT interview: very poorly judged.

I think the Torres interview is being blown a little out of proportion. After all, he was on Chelsea TV (by the ad board behind him) so you would hardly expect him to say anything other than what he did.

What I took from it was he was saying they were ONE of the biggest clubs in the world, that he was happy to be a Chelsea player, and that he had moved to the top level (which on our form over the last 2 seasons, I can't really argue with).

I am a little disappointed hearing some of what he said as I'm a Pool fan, but can see that he has to reach out to his new fans right away by saying the right things.

I do think he's in for a hell of a reception on his return to Anfield though...

What would you have said in his place,

"I didn't want to come here, the money was good, the fans suck, your stadium is pitiful, I'm off to Real when the contracts up because they'll offer me even more money but can't afford me now, that Russian mobster who steals the oil, shady dude, bit gay looking, but he gave me this contact with the wage details on it, and it had an extra fold out piece of paper stuck to it to accomdate all the extra 0's, so I said why not."

:D

I don't see what he said as being inaccurate, Chelsea are a top level club whereas Liverpool have never seriously challenged for the title while he's been there. I think some Liverpool fans are just looking for excuses to hate him for leaving.

I have to wonder you know, is it conceivable that this whole Torres thing might have actually made the game on Sunday much tougher for Chelsea to win?

By that, I wonder if its not going to make Liverpool more stalwart and resilient than normal.

So how long can English football sustain these ridiculous transfer fees?

While City are around it will continue for a while yet as they will continue buying up the top talent until they win the league. Chelsea on the other hand needed to make a statement due to their current position

It's down to the rest of the clubs to just follow what United did when Chelsea were initially spending all over the place, invest in youth even if it does mean a couple of years without silverware

Can we have a source on the 'bad' interview?

It's just the tone of this:

2337: Fernando Torres, having completed his move to Chelsea, has told the club's website: "I am very happy with my transfer to Chelsea and I am looking forward very much to helping my new team-mates this season and for many years to come. Having played against Chelsea many times since coming to England, and in some very big games I will never forget, I know there are many great players here and I will work hard to win a place in the team. I hope I can score some important goals for the supporters to enjoy this season."

Is too tame to justify thinking Torres would be that stupid apparantly minutes beforehand.

Someone else might be trolling

Torres is all of those topped off with being a proven world-class striker, and the extra £25 million would be small change to your sandy sugar-daddies.

Liverpool the new Man City about to ruin football? (if city havn't already) Yup.
I'm getting fed up with these prices for players these days, It is shocking to say the least. I mean, £35mil on a relatively unproven player?

It's also funny that we've just ticked over to 1st February, and Andy Carroll is the 'February' in the Newcastle United calendar this year :p couldn't make it up.

lol, having seen the interview, way to blow it out of proportion. Liverpool are in the Europa league, they'll be in it again next year, and probably in it again the year after, and the year after that.

He didn't say liverpool suck balls or he hates them, on CHELSEA TV he claimed, shockingly that Chelsea were a big club, he's happy to be there, its a step up in his career(he's gone from what, 100-120k a week to 170-200k depending on which report you read, certain seems a step up :p ), may or may not be playing in the CL this season, probably playing in it next season, potentially wining the league this year, and probably competing for the league for several years to come.

If/when Fabregas joins Barca, and gives the same interview, I'm not going to go around claiming I hope someone ends his career.

I HATE Torres, I think he's a massive cheat, in a bad way, he dives but, he kicks a penalty spot to try and mess it up, he consistantly kicks out at players throughout pretty much any game I've seen him play yeah Suarez saved that shot in the World Cup and he shouldn't of, but it was an instant, a moment, something unplanned, Henry's handball the same(and lets be honest, Ireland wouldn't have been 1/50th of the entertainment France provided ;) ), Torres scuffing the penalty spot is pretty much the single most blatant piece of cheating I've seen, ever, so utterly unsportsmen like , and I'm saying that interview isn't even remotely rude or mean to Liverpool.

Its a club tv channel, why would Liverpool fans watch it, I hope to hell he makes a public press statement or does a press conference and thanks Liverpool and their fans and makes you look like utterly stupid for your over reaction.
