January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Well, you could do what Utd fans did, expect 58 goals due to the price in the first season, then because he scored almost exactly as many goals as he has in previous seasons, hound him, boo him, kill his confidence, get the manager to drop him, then seasons later he could get his confidence back and start playing well, become clearly your best player and then finally start supporting him?

DM what the **** are you talking about?

I still cant believe Liverpool fans think loyalty exists in football today or even ever.

Players come and go, big deal, you need to get rid of him, £50 million is a bargain considering they are mid table and not in CL football.

That do anything for you?

i would smash it....

for 10% of that cheque

For any Liverpool fans that think I've been sticking the boot in too much today, don't worry. You've got 6 months to think of as many Fabregas jokes as you can for when he buggers off to Barca in the summer. Night night!

He will walk alone.

I think a lot lot of liverpool fans need to realise we are nowhere near where Torres WANTS and deserves to be.

We had the opportunity to really do some damage (when we had Alonso, Masch, Gerrard, Torres) but for one reason or another (and a certain Cristiano Ronaldo) we decided to get rid or cash in on them all.

We missed out on our time that season, and unless we had an arab sheikh or a dodgy oil tycoon then we were never going reach those dizzy heights again.

Torres for £50 mil is a great deal for our club, considering the position we are in and the quality of the rest of our team - he would never be able to play like he did when he joined as our team does not have that creativity anymore.

but £35 mil - WTF!

I think every football fan likes to harbour an idea that player loyalty exists, even if only in the very back of their mind. The Torres situation has been a massive kick in the teeth for Liverpool fans and there's simply no denying that. The hardest part of the kick has been the timing of the request.

Unlike Baz, I have to say I'm delighted with the signing of Carroll. Given the circumstances of the deal we undoubtedly overpaid but he's a player I've admired for a while - there's not too many like him in style.

What on earth is your point, where did I say Rooney doesn't dive, infact the very point I made is its not the diving, its the fact he makes apoint of kicking everyone, and scuffing penalty spots, the later is something I've NEVER seen anyone else do, ever, people react in different ways, I've seen plenty of people punch other players, revenge tackles, etc, I've seen one player scuff a penalty spot, that same player makes a habit of kicking people, not people that have done a bad foul on him, just anyone.

The point was, he's the biggest cheatingist pile of crap in the league, he's my most hated player(well, Diouf/Barton) but even I don't think that Chelsea interview was even remotely mean towards Liverpool.

That was the point, why you're making it about cheating I don't even know, my point had NOTHING TO DO WITH CHEATING, but pointing out how much I hated him and why.

So he kicks people who kick him because they can't defend against him, okay, so i can justify that if they are going to get away with it.

He scruffed one penalty spotted based on a **** decision from the ref as it was never a penalty, just trying to even out the game as you do :p

Think you hate him because he enjoys taking a large **** on your team regularly, basically you hate him for being an individual or using a new technique of cheating once over another player, sounds pretty pedantic to me.

Loyalty does remain in football to some players....

DId you not notice how you bought Berbatov, the fans expected a load of goals from a 30mil striker, despite mostly being a supporting striker, everyone was on his back for over a year, his form dipped, confidence went to hell, Fergie dropped him, there was major talk of him being shipped out, and several months later Berbatov is your most inform player, top scorer in the league by 5 goals and suddenly beloved by the fans?

Liverpool fans can focus on the 35mil and get all uppity about the fee when he only scores 10-20 goals in a season because based on the fee/wanting him to match Torres, just let him play, build confidence, grow as a player and give him some backing. He still might suck, but jumping down his neck isn't going to help anyone.

Oh wait, let me think, Man U fans will claim to not remember all the Utd fans who trashed Berbatov for 2 years, it will be just that one outspoken fan but the vast majority ALWAYS thought he was great, ok, sure.

I think Torres needs to realise the meaning of the word timing and who he chooses to join.

Who do you support?

Christ Purdy, you talk worse **** than who you're replying to.

He said he doesn't like Torres because he scuffs penalty spots when barely any other player in similar situations acts out in a similar manner. Seems like a fairly good reason to most comptenant human beings, but oh well let's go on pretending everyone throws a stroppy like the Spanish tranvestite and everyone is blinkered to their prejudice but you.

DM was making the point that when United signed Berba, the fans expected him to come in and work wonders. Didn't happen, a lot of United fans (on here and elsewhere) wanted him to be dropped / sold. Now he's hitting form and they love him.

Saying that Liverpool shouldn't expect much from Carroll and he could do well, but he might buckle under the weight of expectation.

Makes sense.

DM does support Arsenal, it's just often questioned as he constantly moans about them, the players, the system and the manager.
