***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

I don't see the negative press so far

only part way in -but graphics seem nice and very glossy - runs smooth and looks great

gameplay wise very similar to Crysis

doesn't have tax the GPU though !!! my poor 480 is up to 93/94C in this game - quite a bit higher than any other game I've played

93/94C:eek: reseat it even add a single slot pci bracket as that will drop your temps.

i rarely hit 90c as it has tobe a really hot day for that temp.

reaper - I'm guessing my single 120mm fan is not exhausting enough heat out quick enough of my case

temps inside room are about 25/26C

a side fan will make a big difference, i also added this to the Standard card http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-076-EK

frees up allot of the airflow in the card and your load temps will drop even idle, around 1-3c.
99% of the heat comes out of the back of the card, one reason a side fan directing air to the 480 fan will make a big difference, if no side fan option use a 120mm hole saw :D i did that on my last case when i was Sli.

Side fans dont always decrease your temps though. Sometimes they can mess up the air flow inside your case and raise it by a couple degrees, plus it's sometimes better to have the side-fan as an exhaust rather than an intake - but people seem to get all kinds of different results depending on their setups/cases.

CHEERS have a sideintake fan but not using it - will buy a 120mm fan next week

re temps I blocked a lower "intake vent" at rear of case (Antec 62) and that seems to have dropped temps to a more respectable 89/90C under heavy Crysis 2

The problem I have with Crysis 2, is that it has next to no connection with the other games.

The aliens look different, and what happened to the koreans on the island?

The aliens look different, yup. They had to change the aliens to humanoid so they only needed to write one set of badguy AI.

The koreans? Well they either froze to death or got nuked ;)

If you watch the vid in the link above, it mentions how they cut corners on the AI programming this time around. There is NO difference between fighting the aliens and fighting the humans now, they even fire over the top of cover the same.

Well as I've not seen a human jump 15 feet on top of a bus, nor run at me with flailing some sort of blades for arms, I'm going to guess there's still a few holes in the 'identical AI' theory. I certainly don't discount it, but it's different fighting against the two. Humans = good. Aliens = Screen is suddenly awash with more colours and sparks than a bonfire night celebration, suit doesn't seamlessly switch between modes dependant on what's happening, or what day of the week it is, and the melee button is probably the least dependable thing in the entire game. Furthermore, what the frig happened to some sort of fluency from Crysis 1? Or did they just figure they'd get more console sales essentially starting a brand new game, then we can go back and explain the time line properly later when we're running out of money? (Which is just annoying, if you're calling it Crysis 2 make it a sequel FFS, otherwise just call it Crysis: 2023).

They might have tweaked the abilities of the humanoid aliens, but have a look at how they fire over cover. Crouched down, shoulder against the cover, other arm up over the top, firing blind.

Been playing the multi-player allot today. I'm enjoying it because the maps are really nice, and different and the game modes are fun. Since they patched it, the game seems to run super smooth.

I finally got round to finishing the sp today. Really enjoyed the later parts of the game. However, with the hot weather, my cpu is getting a bit hot atm, so i might have to sort that out before playing the mp some more:)

I would say that it is a very well-paced game overall, as the guy from Zero Punctuation said. I was pleasently suprised by his review actually. Regularly watching his vids, you get to know that if he says anything at all nice about a game, he actually really likes it:)

Surely you'd only do benchmarks on things that stress the hardware though?

I'd be liking C2 a lot more if they hadn't released C1.
