The Witcher 2 - Thread

This does look like a great game, means I have to finish The Witcher 1 before I can play it. I had trouble getting into it when I tried it the first time, but hopefully I can get through it. I've heard it picks up after Chapter 1 anyway.

I'm in chapter 3 at the moment and my impression so far is: chapter 1 is decent, chapter 2 is awesome, and chapter 3 is basically chapter 2 but with an additional area or two (so awesome plus some more awesome). The story becomes extremely interesting once you get a little bit into chapter 2. I'm hoping chapters 4 and 5 continue the trend so far.

Pretty much agree with that. I thought Chapter 4 was the best:). Chapter 5 is a bit short

To anyone thinking axii doesn't work: you have to charge it up (hold the button) for it to take effect. Just one of those things you have to figure out for yourself as the game doesn't really explain it. Took me a while to realise =p

started playing it yesterday now the patch is out.
I'v done chapter 1 and god dam the big boss fight was fun I guessed it was gonna be shall we say large but didn't realy prepared me for it only two things I reckon is missing in this game.

1 : Different Colour for the on screen button mashes I find it hard to see the yellowy/orange [ maybe just me ]

2 : Storage of some sort I have no idea what I need and from the start of the game had weight problems and no I wasn't picking up everything [ should have keeped the one from first game ]

And on the last note heres a mod to help with it Zero Item Weight Mod yes its cheating but not a game breaking one I just wont keep going back to town every 5mins because i'v picked up something on my travels :)

Anyhow gonna get going on chapter 2 today

I fear I won't finish this game any time soon. Duke comes out in just over a week and am really getting into LA Noire.

:(

Just started chapter 2 as well with 17 hours game time.

That's what i thought. I will have to play it to see, but that doesn't really seem like a good thing to me.( i am enjoying it so far btw)

I would happily play through it again, but i do not want to be forced into making a decision just to access all the content.

Obviously choices should have consequences, but not like that imo. If i do not want to side with Roache for example, i shouldn't have to tbh. Doesn't it make the decision worthless in a way?
It was very clear to me which side i was going to choose, i don't really want to choose the other one tbh.
-"why did you do that?"
-"because i chose the other way last time and i need to do this in order to get to the other area"

Couldn't they have had both locations in the game, or is that not possible?

Just doesn't seem right to me. Oh well, i'll see how it works.

Nah, but see, it gives your choices immense weight beyond a few different lines of text or something. IMO, if you could access everything regardless of choices, that would degrade your choices more. Also, first time through, you don't really know about this stuff, so you choose what you like.

Exactly, it's kinda the whole point.
You can play the game through several times and get a different experience, different endings, which offers a huge amount of replayability. That decisions can affect event several chapters ahead also lends and unpredictability to events and a deeper experience.

Most games once you've played them through, there's nothing new to see, with games like this, whilst there is common ground, you can play it through several times and find new things each time.

Can anyone tell me if/how you can change the game difficulty, I've looked everywhere and cant find it and having a hard time with Letho

cheers

its ok i found it, you cant change the option once you are fighting so had to go back to previous save.
