The Witcher 2 - Thread

Guessing you sided with Roche?

I sided with Roche on the first play through as well, probably one of the best npc's in any rpg I've played. Really liked the way he is written and the voice acting is class. Actually it was mainly the voice acting I was most impressed with.

So I bought this thinking it's gonna be good.

Come on, it's crap. If this was on PS3 we'd all be tearing strips off it, the graphics are nothing better than we seen on the first X-box, it's pretty much two button combos with a slow motion effect if you throw some magic around the place!

You must be playing a different game to everyone else on this forum and 5 other forums that talk about The Witcher 2.

Use Axii on one, he will attack the other, then you can finish them. Easy.

People, how about being a bit creative? Geralt has PLENTY of "tools" at his disposal to slay monsters with.

i think its because i dont know how to use geralts powers. as quite a few people have said its not very newbie friendly.

completely different to what i was expecting which was a dragon age clone.

im loving it so far tho.

I bought the premium edition, and when it arrived I was impressed with the box, then opened it up to find a coin (yes a coin), and 2 cardboard cut out models for my desk!!!

It's not for adults, it's for 12 year olds whose parents let them play games rated for adults.

I'll persevere with it tonight (if I can ever get out of that damn courtyard), and hopfully it'll change my mind.

I'm not an RPG fan at heart but The Witcher 2 so far is my GOTY. Looks like an xbox game? Are you on crack? Seriously, go troll some where else.

You haven't even started chapter one, how can you judge the game so harshly?

any tips on how to kill the wraiths on the claws of madness quest?

I found the wraiths INCREDIBLY easy.

Make sure you have a silver sword before going anywhere near the place.

I just made sure I had my Quen shield up, then smacked the hell out of 'em as soon as they appeared.

If one got too close while I was battering the other, a quick roll out of the way and refresh Quen (if needed) was all.

I did get into a scrape once but managed to get out of it with a good Yrden trap. Never once died during that quest, though.

Holy hell, I played it on hard straight away and managed to figure out the first level relatively quickly.

If it was on PS3, I'd still rate it as one of my favourite RPG's ever, because when you get into it, its an ace game. Its got a helluva learning curve though. At the start anyway.

Axii, Yrden and Quen for the first courtyard IIRC thats what I used. Axii when you get quite heavily outnumbered, use the friendly as an aggro divider. Yrden the remains. Use Quen when your health is low, but not before IMO. Remember to dodge as well.

Can someone confirm for me please, how different is the game depending on who you side with in Act 1? (i have already chosen but would like to know;))

Anyone?
I am a little worried that i will have to play through the game again choosing another path, which just doesn't seem right to me. Is it drastically different?

(i have got the game guide which came with the retail version, but it might as well be written in chinese tbh)

Very.

Chapter 2's entire location changes depending on your choice. Different quests, different people.

It changes a lot, but that's the whole point of it, it makes you want to play through again to see what might've been.

That's what i thought. I will have to play it to see, but that doesn't really seem like a good thing to me.( i am enjoying it so far btw)

I would happily play through it again, but i do not want to be forced into making a decision just to access all the content.

Obviously choices should have consequences, but not like that imo. If i do not want to side with Roache for example, i shouldn't have to tbh. Doesn't it make the decision worthless in a way?
It was very clear to me which side i was going to choose, i don't really want to choose the other one tbh.
-"why did you do that?"
-"because i chose the other way last time and i need to do this in order to get to the other area"

Couldn't they have had both locations in the game, or is that not possible?

Just doesn't seem right to me. Oh well, i'll see how it works.

Massive replay value and you can always go back to a save and make the other decision to get the alternative events that take place.

As for looking like an Xbox title, lol no chance, IMO Witcher 2 is the best looking PC title yet, there are some locations that are just breath taking.
