The whole team screwed up against Barca. Sometimes you have to take defeat on the chin and this was one of those times.

I would never use that game as a benchmark for judging a player.

I agree with Tom, to beat Barca you have to play like ****s. Anti football or whatever you want to call it. Jose didnt really worry about anti-football when he lifted the cup last year. It wont be popular but it will work. When we actually knocked them out of the CL it was based on defending.

It also helps if you can keep hold of the ball, which is something United failed to do against Barca. Im sure we will come back stronger next season if we buy some good players.

The problem is you have no understanding of what actually happened at Liverpool or Blackburn and you're putting a failure to win the league at Newcastle - despite the fact 2nd was the best they achieved in recent history - as proof he failed at Newcastle.

He took over at Liverpool when we were at the top but he had to rebuild the side and he built what many Liverpool fans believe was our greatest ever side. He left Liverpool while we were at the top and despite what you say, the side he left didn't need major work - a point conceded by Souness who at the time thought it did.

I have no idea why he gave up the Blackburn managers job but he left them with the side that had just won the league - a side that the managers after him quite literally sold off and brought in considerably more (both on paper and in real terms) than what Dalglish spent assembling it. Blackburn were relegated 4 years after Dalglish left and you're blaming him? :o

edit: For what it's worth, I've said throughout the season that it's not certain that Dalglish is the best man to take Liverpool forward longterm but the job he done since taking over in January has meant that he's earned the chance. That coupled with who he is meant that he was the only person the board could consider.

What Souness actually said was that he did too much too quickly.

Im NOT blaming KD for Blackburn getting relegated at all. Im simply saying that for all the money he spent he left them with no legacy. The money he spent got them one trophy, thats all. We could go into the ins and outs of buying Warhurst for big money when he was an emergency striker for Sheff Wed or whether Batty was needed etc etc but it doesnt matter. He won the title due to the failings of my club rather the the success of his. That was illustrated by their subsequent fall from grace.

Im not saying not winning the league at Newcastle as a failure im simply saying it adds to the CV if you will. From when he took over as title challengers he left them in 13th place.

Yes, he sold off players like Beardsley when they were still in their prime. The side didn't need a major overhaul, it needed tweaking like all sides do.

He left them the side that had just won the league and if those players weren't good enough, the managers after him should have done better reinvesting the fortune they received from selling Dalglish's squad.

As for only winning due to the failings of Utd - you're starting to sound like Tom. I suppose Utd only won the title this year due to Chelsea's failings and in '09 because of Liverpool's failings? :o

Adds to the CV that includes winning league titles with 2 different clubs? Newcastle are and were a mess because of the way they were run - they'd give a manager money to spend in the summer and then sack him a few weeks into the season if they didn't hit the ground running. Despite that, Dalglish achieved as much with Newcastle as any manager in the last 50 years there.

Had Newcastle won anything pre Dalglish or improved on what Dalglish achieved there, you could criticise his job - they didn't do either though.

No. I made it very clear. I have no problem with any team that wins the league. However in 1995 i dont believe the best team won it. Thats my opinion.

Ok, you're entitled to your opinion. We're not going to agree and this isn't really on topic so we'll just have to leave it at that for now.

Mass hysteria on RAWK after some guy's girlfriend sends him a text saying that she's seen Alonso getting off a helicopter and going into a meeting with Dalglish :o :D

There's always a helicopter involved.

Greatest of all time? :D :D :D Over 20 years and still hasn't won as many European Cups as Sir Bob won in 9 years :o
.

The format of the competition is completely different and the style of football is completely different making the comparision irrelevant

Its like comparing Ronaldo to Sir Bobby - totally nonsense.

End of the day SAF has seen off the challange of more rival managers while still keeping his team right at the top for 1/4 of a century. Only one other manager has even managed close to 1/2 of that, and majority are unlikely to ever even manage 1/4 of that time.

I am worried about the alonse talk, not because hes a bad player but becuase of the price real will want. After we kinda fleeced them when we sold him to them and the moment theres an air of liverpool paying a lot for anyone.

Billy Davies has been sacked by Forest and they are in talks with the wally with the brolly!

Another rumour has just surfaced as well that Alex McLeish has just resigned from Birmingham!
