Just goes to show that it has NOTHING to do with playing the game, or experience when it comes to management, its about what's upstairs and nothing else.

I'm surprised there aren't more managers who haven't been professional footballers, especially of the success of Arrigo Sacchi.

Villas-Boas to Chelsea looks all but done now. Porto confirmed that Villas-Boas paid them the €15m (no prizes for guessing where he got it from) needed to terminate his contract.

It's all down to a lack of opportunities. Ex-players can walk into small management jobs or coaching roles at top clubs so the progression is a lot easier.

If you take Rooney out of the team and play him once every 10 games, he simply won't be as good in that single game, as if he was playing every game.

Depends on the player and the position. Ledley King and Paul McGarth before him both managed to play at the top of their game despite career-ruining injuries.

Barca/Sanchez is becoming very amusing indeed. Jeffren is the latest academy graduate to be offered in part ex and the latest to have told Barca to sod right off with that one. Even talk of Barca inviting them for some mini tournament to which the funds raised would obviously count as part of the deal. They'll be offering signed Messi shirts next :D seemingly anything but just coming up with the cash (which is now looking increasingly likely they either won't or can't do). More drawn out comedy likely to follow..

I'm not sure that Barca can afford Sanchez AND Fabregas. If they could they'd not be whinging about having no more than £35m for Fabregas surely?

What is Barca's financial situation, does anyone actually know? One minute they're spunking money left right and center and the next they can't afford some random guy from Udinese (;)) ?

They have a huge amount of debt but they are reducing it and the banks will repeatedly give them loans....

modric is ready for the new season :D

Fellani for Utd @ £25M is another rumour that I laughed at just now - good player (if a little dirty), but not worth £25m or anything like it imo (although I can appreciate Everton valueing him as such)

Pastore @ £44m wil never be bought, however much money SAF has in his back pocket

I also had a good laugh at OShea being sold to Liverpool for £3m - not sure why they would even approach him, why he would even go to Anfield , or any deal being agreed between the clubs in question

Some writers really need to put in at least a little dose of realism into their articles lol

He'd still be their first choice left back unless they continue pushing kids through?

The first two look like massive FM signings :p

We got ripped off with the 15m we paid for him, 25m would be happy days indeed for a player I think we paid double his worth. I think he's decent enough for us, I'm not sure if he's dirty or clumsy but he's no way a top 4 club player.

He was certainly guilty of one or two dirty challanges against Utd (one in his first game vs Utd), and imo looked like it was full of intent - which was missed by referee(s) at the time

Fergie should just go in there and offer them the asking price imo, even if just to annoy barca :D Sanchez has the potential to be a superstar.

Cant believe SSN coverage of the Villas Boas story, been on their breaking news strap since what 4/5pm now and they've just spend 15 minuets banging on about it as well. I assume it's just the unprecedented buy out fee that's causing so much interest.... we all know when he doesn't win the champions league in 2 seasons he'll be sacked so what's the big deal?

 It's the biggest football news story by miles right now. Big transfer for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

And he'll win the champions league - you'll see! :p
