I read the other day that Man U had offered £30m for Xabi Alonso!
 
Seems we've missed out on another long term target as Varane has chosen to join Real Madrid by all accounts

TBF with Rio, Vida, Smalling and Jones he's probably got more chance of getting first team football with Real but it wont detract the nay sayers from moaning about losing another target to one of the Spanish sides

Sky Italia and Catalunya Radio. All over some Barca fans forum as well. Few people have mentioned its a loan with option to buy for €10m whilst other's say they've bought him for €10m but he has a buy back clause of €15m.

Depends how good Jones out.

Its just the wrong time for the deal.
If Evans wasnt there and it was one of Vidic or Rio retiring this year he would have signed I think.
Just too many things in his way, the Club may possibly regret not acting sooner and getting shot of Evans first thing, but I think being forced into the move for Jones scuppered this transfer before it started.
 
Going back to Marveaux (spelling? anyway).
Our Physio just said that he never failed his medical, he passed easily.
Truth is, NUFC offered 'substantially more' in wages and we were unwilling to match for a squad player.

Maybe I'm wrong but it sounds like you're being negative for the sake of it now, you seem put out by the fact we're not signing this 18 year old French kid yet the one young defender we have signed you're now questioning it?

Have you seen Varane play before or something? Personally having known next to nothing about either Jones or Varane if I had the choice I'd of picked the one we have signed

In other news AVB has signed for Chelsea on a 3 year deal
