***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

Yes much better tesselation, shadows, reflections its all pretty good its only the texture pack I am disappointed in but I would say it is worth the performance hit.

I bet if texture pack performed as originally intended, DX11 Crysis2 may well have been unplayable bringing most powerful rigs to their knees.

The game uses 1.5GB VRAM for me maxed DX11 High Res textures at 1920x1200.

They couldn't have added anything else to the texture pack without making 2/3GB cards required.

I think we can all agree that Crytek are graphics kings and when they intend to produce the most intense graphics, no other company can match them.

It is very interesting what you said with regards to texture pack and requirement being 2/3GB cards. Couple of months ago when they showed the following demo, I was already thinking that most cards won't be able to handle what they showed in the following demo with regards to Cry Engine 3:)

Yeah I see what you mean. It sounds distinct from background music but it may well be part of background music. Try going to different area where background music changes and see if you can still hear it. If not then it is probably only associated with that particular area

It seems to be an issue when cell soldiers are nearby, ive had it happen on a few levels.

I am certain that once the modding tools are out there there will be a texture pack that will bring any PC to its knees.

Quick where is TheCenturion!!:D

I think what we are seeing here is Crytek showing it's true capability again and going back to the old days of Far Cry and Crysis:).

If a DX11 patch is able to force so many rigs with modern cards to halve their output, then imagine if this game was designed with the same mindset that prevailed during the making of original crysis; i.e. PC platform being the main platform:cool:

I am finding that I am (after the latest hd and dx11 patches) getting poor performance all settings ultra 1080p. Now I know this is a fairly demanding game but I have seen others running it smoother than me with weaker systems. I used to get an average of 70 fps (pre patches) with 35 at the very lowest, but after the patch I average around 25 fps and have lows of 10 fps is this seems a ridiculos performance loss is this what I should be getting? I have heard some claim to barely see a performance hit at all. One suggested problem was that tesselation is poorly optimised on ATI cards and I should disable it but I thought I would ask you guys to see what you think.

im a bit gutted in can only get 25-30fps frame rate in the dx11

and heres me thinking I had a very good computer

Windows 7 Home Premium (x64)
2.80 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
4096 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory

Am I thinking right you must have to own a beast of a computer to get proper high fps :(

i run i7 970 and GTX 580 SLI too. i have yet to see a crash on Crysis 2. pretty much 60fps+ all the time. there's still some noticeable stuttering. but, I'm pretty sure they will fix that later on ;)

£695.98 for two graphic cards. Expensive for a DX11 game.

It seems I have found a solution for this problem, it is tessellation and the fact that you can't adjust the amount of it, it simply kills our GPU on Ultra setting. The workaround for this is to set everything to "Ultra" except for "Objects". That way you will have ultra setting but without tessellation... Runs just fine that way.

My specs:
AMD Phenom II x4 970 Overclocked at 4.0 GHz
4GB DDR 1333 MHz RAM
Sapphire 2GB 6970 single gpu
Win 7x 64

Playing at 1920x1080

Everyting on ultra, I only get 15-20 fps. It is unplayable. I thought my GPU would be good enough to run ultra and get at least 45-60 fps? Does my perfromance seem right based on my specs? Only 15 fps?

I get the same and my pc is faster, I think there are some issues with the dx11

I get 40-50, you just need lots of graphics horsepower. DX11 ultra is at the highest end of PC gaming.

Tradiooo's post is laughable, there's nothing particularly good about his PC and he expects to get 60fps on Ultra. Ok, maybe a bit harsh, but it's not exactly the highest end possible. :p
