Also, does anybody else think that we won't sign a replacement for Scholes? We might sign Nasri or someone similar, but not Modric / Sneijder.

I just can't see it happening. Fergie has too much faith in Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson.

Mata is great, good pace, vision, confidence, trickery and intelligence, basically the complete attacker. The margins between him and Nasri are very fine but they'll both go on to be great players over the next 5 years. Would be very happy if he was Arsenal bound, one of the few players I can see Wenger breaking our transfer record for too. Do it

I'm always suspicious of these amazing players who are not already having loads of money throw at them. If he is that good surely Man City would be throwing money at him instead of Nasri.

He seems to have scored 9 with 15 assists last season. That's less than Arshavin playing in an easier league and Arshavin was apparently poor last season. ;)

Don't judge a player on who is interested in him/stats, I've watched him 50+ times in the last few seasons, he's the real deal and I'm 100% certain we won't be the only club in for him.

Think City will throw enough money at Arsenal until they relent about Nasri, just to prevent Utd getting him

In one sense I can see Utd really going for Sneijder but two things are sticking out like a sore thumb;

1) Yesterday's announcement had all the hallmarks of a diversion (as poiinted out at the time on here)

2) Sneijder's wage demands would blow the wage structure at the club wide open

To be fair you were convinced De Gea wasn't going to sign despite the writing being on the wall for months so hopefully if you were that wrong about him you'll be equally as wrong about Nasri signing

As for Sneijder do you know what he earns at Inter at the moment? I only ask because all reports say his dream club is United so as long as the club agree the £35m fee with Inter I dont see agreeing wages being much of an issue

That said I dont honestly believe we'll sign both but I reckon we'll get at least one, we cant afford to go into next season without tbh

I'd be happy if Liverpool went for him, theres talk of us offering Villa £20m now for Downing, well if we are throwing that much money at it I'd rather we went for Mata.

Apparently you are already in negotations, I think the word is that two PL clubs have agreed to match his release clause, us being one and the other you/Spurs

*Checks to see if Arsenal have signed anybody yet*

*Leaves disappointed*

:(

Dont expect too much Arsenal incomings in the near future, Wenger's too busy having fun with his own personal purchase

In my experiences a players "dream club" is usually the club which is currently showing an interest in them. Its also usually the club which , sometimes seemingly spontaneously, becomes their "boyhood club" or "life-long fan" of :p

Arsenal are planning a £52m double deal for Real Madrid's Karim Benzema and Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi. One will cost £25m, the other £27m. But which fee matches which player? Do you care? No you don't.

Putting up those stats was completely tounge in cheek honestly as its all some people seem to listen to. ;) I completely agree and stats only tell half the story (if that in a lot of cases).

I've only seen him a few times so bow to your experience but it does bring up the question. How would we sign him? We'd be slaughtered both in fee and salary.

That's such rubbish, we had a £15m bid for Benzema turned down last week apparently, I think we're going back with £18m

£20m~ release clause, which is doable if we're selling Cesc, he's only on £30k at Valencia so wages will be fine

Hopefully Wenger signs before everyone jumps ship. Even if he is that good we still still be in the same boat when fab leaves. Great out and replaced with good, with potential.

If Wenger suddenly bought three good players it might make them think twice about leaving. But what will happen is Wenger will wait to see who he has to replace rather than improving.
