SSN were (dont know about now..) reporting 8mill+2 players, which makes you wonder. If everyone's saying about 7 mill, why did SSN feel the need to 'be different' ?

Surely you'd be better off asking SSN that question rather than me? If they did report it as £8m + 2 players, you might want to ask them why Swanson and his giant ipad were reporting it as 'a bid in the region of £7m' last night as well.

edit: and regarding the players going on loan to Blackpool; if any do, they look like being independent of the Adam deal. Had they been included then I'm sure they'd have been named when the deal was announced yesterday, although we still might be giving them some sort of preferential deal.

Staggering to read that Gibson is on 40k pw

Just for being able to strike a ball really really hard :o

Why are we fighting to keep a player, who really isn't very good(nor bad), while wanting to give him ridiculous wages(matching/beating RVP and close to Fab). Ditch him, stop screwing around over Mata and just sign him. Nasri was abysmal in cesc's role last year, as a winger he created almost nothing for anyone else, he's not very fast so spent the entire season running into a dead end in the corner(when he ran down the wing) then passing backwards.

If we stop messing around we can switch Nasri for Mata, who has a better scoring, assist, fitness record and is younger. He's played 5 full seasons already at 23, scoring more than Nasri in almost every season by a pretty large margin, while also massively out assisting him.

Nasri, not a winger, Mata, a winger, and we can make a profit on the deal? Instead we want to over double Nasri's wages and ask him to do a job he failed to do spectacularly last season....... all while Nasri is trying to leave and has had an attitude problem for years.

I don't know how good mata is, but if he is better than Nasri then what you said makes sense () - especially if we can hang on to cesc!

glad if we can shift brown,o'shea, gibson

still need a top class midfielder, modric/nasri/sneijder looking less likely by the day tbh

Modric maybe but Nasri and Sneijder? If anything the rumours about those two grow by the day!!

It's hard to say, such a big deal will naturally take longer to complete so we can't assume anything just yet.

Think City will throw enough money at Arsenal until they relent about Nasri, just to prevent Utd getting him

In one sense I can see Utd really going for Sneijder but two things are sticking out like a sore thumb;

1) Yesterday's announcement had all the hallmarks of a diversion (as poiinted out at the time on here)

2) Sneijder's wage demands would blow the wage structure at the club wide open

I haven't really watched Mata play much but my lasting memory of him last year was owning Albiol in a kick-about (not necessarily a difficult thing) before a Spain game.

Mata is great, good pace, vision, confidence, trickery and intelligence, basically the complete attacker. The margins between him and Nasri are very fine but they'll both go on to be great players over the next 5 years. Would be very happy if he was Arsenal bound, one of the few players I can see Wenger breaking our transfer record for too. Do it

How long is left on Gibson's contract? How long before we can just cut him loose?

He is coming into, or is in his last year now.
So at the worst we will have to watch him blasting balls into row z probably 4 or 5 times more before we can release him on a free.

When I heard he was on his way I was like a dog with two ****s all day.

Now I hear the little **** wont move because he thinks he is in some way deserving on being on more per week than I am on a year, despite me being able to get MOST of my long range shots on target on a saterday, I feel like a Monkey that has come home to find his wife in bed with a Rhino.

To be honest DM most people think what you say is complete tosh. It's strange how many top teams rate him with rumoured offers of £20m for a rubbish player in his last year of his contract.

I don't think he is perfect but I also see good signs for improvement, he has another level to step up to yet. Whoever he plays for next season I believe he will be one of the better players in that team.

But then again you know more about a player from watching arsenal tv than all these managers with about 50 scouts at their disposal.

Maybe arsenal should just sack them all and hire those that you recommend. Would save the club a fortune. Then we could afford those high wages that nasri has not publicly demanded despite you say he has. The only report I have read is that he isn't I interested in money but success. But I'm sure you know better.

I think we should just sell him and replace him with Eboue.

Not sure why you are comparing him with Cham... Striker and midfielder?

Next you will be saying given is better than song lol

You are all forgetting about the biggest spenders of the window-

http://www.brightonandhovefreepress...oised-for-more-record-breaking-signings/25362

After smashing the Seagulls’ transfer record with the £1m capture of Watford winger Will Buckley, Brighton boss Gus Poyet says he expects to break the record transfer fee again. “I hope this is not the top signing this summer,” Poyet told BBC Sussex. “I think we will break the record again.”
Maybe they will hijack the Nasri transfer:p

Also signed Craig Mickail-Smith from Peterborough.

Off down to ladbrokes later to put my bet on Brighton winning the Championship this season;) (or maybe just getting promoted, depending on the price)
