Sonny, it seems that some people cannot see the wood for the trees.

Rooney is a great player. it would be great if he was the little man in 2 man combo, but with Fergie leaving Berba in the dressing room and pairing small and smaller (roon + hernandez) it just causes problems for us as neither can get and hold the ball up that well.

QUOTE]

I am a city fan so i have no love for united... but when i saw that statement i have to question, have you ever seen rooney play?

Played in a 4-3-3 last year on the right or left, so I'd expect the same

Who?

he will be good as a winger against bigger teams and good as a striker against poorer teams, he looks versatile enough to play anywhere across the front line, he does however looks like a ball hogger, if he pulls it off he can score, if not he loses possession a lot.

don't think he plays passing football

4 titles in 5 years and 3 champions league finals in 4 years is a fact that our squad has been more than equip to challenge on all fronts

Oh and FYI, we could have had Sneijder in midfield and Crouch up front and we still wouldn't of beaten Barca before you go there

crouch is terrible though,

if utd had ibrahimovich up front with rooney and alonso/fabregas in midfield, i reckon it would have been a much closer game.

I couldn't even make this up if I tried.

Have you ever watched Manchester United play? Obviously not.

I suppose if we had Zidane, Pele, Messi, Ronaldo and Van Basten in the team it would have also been a much closer game.

Our squad is capable and well drilled its true - that alone beats many teams. throw in a Rooney and van Der saar and it can beat many teams.

lets look at those CL finals one lucky win due to a falling over penalty taker and 2 losses. given that cr7was instrumental in a lot of this and.left meant that our direct counter attack blitzkrieg style football died a bit of a death that we have spent years coming to terms with. without ronaldo to carry the ball 50 yards we look more predictable than a tevez tantrum. and have really struggled to break down even blackout or wolves on occasion. as a team our overall quality has decreases over the last 2 years more than it has increased due to.personally like valencia joining us and the center midair bein almost non existent in some of our games.

Considering Arsenal's problem a lot of the time is players worried about shooting, and going for the pass instead, someone that is selfish could very well be great for Arsenal.

Big strikers are a thing of the past.

Ruud was a big target man but he was excellent in every area, his control was sublime and he could dribble too. He was also extremely hard working, covering a lot of area closing down defenders, another trait most 6 footers are unfamiliar with.
He was a very very unique, a big player with world class technique, finishing ability and work rate. I can't think of many 6 footers who can match him in those areas.
So using him as an example of needing a big player is totally inaccurate.

I don't disagree with you that Rooney can play midfield, but he's a proven forward, and Schneider is one of the best in the world, and adding a world class player to our squad can only be a good thing. And having 2 players in their proven positions is far better than risking having Rooney adapt to a new position and buying some random average forward just because he's tall.

Its a risk at 35m for a non PL player, but historically Dutch players have adapted better to the PL than Italians and Argentinians, and i have every confidence he will do well.

So is 35 million good value considering he is 27, moved at 25 for about 13 million quid? These italians rub there sweaty palms with glee once tbey know that a premiership club especially united is interested in their wares.

Sometimes you have to.see you are being ripped off and be prepared to walk away.

Not good value, but maybe just about market value for a man utd target.

He's a player at his peak, one of the best players in the world, and one of the few who could possibly be available.

Its Man Utd. Most players they go for will be at inflated value, and sometimes you just have to pay it.

27 is nothing, you will easily get 4 years out of him. but when you go to sell him on it will be at a huge loss, lets say he sells for £15 million in 4 years time.

thats roughly £5 million a year excluding wages, now look at the hargreaves situation, you paid how much for 1 year?

for a team like united the shouldnt even be questioning the money aspect of it, they have lost HUGE players (ronaldo, tevez, etc) and really do need to get some quality back.

everyone you sign wont be a hernandez, look at how much carrol and torres went for.

i would say he is worth it if your in the top 4 and want to be competing on all fronts.

look how much they paid for berba and hes not young now at 30, is sneijder not worth that much?
