Thoughts on Silver Arrow?

Yup, also done the same. As long as both are pulling in the same direction you won't any issues with any of the arrangements.

By the way, Akasa now have an even more advanced PWM splitter that can connect 5 PWM fans, see http://www.akasa.com.tw/update.php?...ype_sub=Fan Cable Adapters&model=AK-CBFA03-45.

Very nice, will be getting one of these next week. Much neater than the one I currently have, the cables look really messy.

Fitted mine on Friday and currently temps are 24 idle and 38 was highest using handbrake. Not OC'd my 2600k yet though but will be doing that next week when I have some time.

Well took me ages to put my pc back together upon fitting SA to mobo, and now neither fan is spinning:( both fans are connected to a pwm y-splitter and have connected the other end to the cpu_fan header.

For those after a SA keep on eye on this thread. Cooler was a PITA to fit, and if its a PITA to get working I will sell in on the MM.

It is difficult to fit but that shouldn't put people off imho, the performance and value are well worth it. You can always fit it to the motherboard and then install the motherboard in the case.

As for the fans not spinning, I expect that is down to either the motherboard or the splitter. I know it defeats the object but set the CPU header to 100% but turning off PWM in BIOS, see if that helps.

Sorted in the end. Cable wasn't connected to the header properly so it was only connected to 3 pins rather than 4.

I have noticed that despite using the spanner to tighten the clamp, the cooler still appears to be quite slack when touched. This the same for everyone else? Thought the clamp would have prevented any sort of movement at all.

A lot of the silver arrow users wont use that clamp to put more pressure on the cpu and also if you silver arrow moves when touched then theres somethink wrong.

Hmm. I might loosen the clamp then. Its hard to describe what I mean by the cooler moving when touched.

As long as you turn the clamp by hand until it won't turn without a bit of elbow grease, you're fine.

Really. The only problems are from people who tightened it the full way around, that's an insane amount of pressure.

Less cooling? funny that. priming for 8 hours on 4.8 only reached 58 degrees for me. If the silver arrow is better than that then i really will be amazed. And as for noisy? its really not mate.

So you are basing your statement on only owning one of the two cooler? lol

There are no reliable reviews comparing them yet, but considering Corsairs track record vs high end dual radiator air coolers I'd be very surprised if it was better than the SA or D-14.

my thoughts on the Silver Arrow?

i dont like it one bit im afraid, it just doesnt look right, slim shiny silver fins, only 4 heatpipes, large fans that dwarf the towers? no thank you :)
