Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Dec 2011 - 4th Jan 2012]

IIRC Anderson's ahead of schedule as it is (wasn't he meant to be out till February?). Personally I wouldn't risk him, we did that with Cleverley against Everton and look how that turned out. Gibson should be back in the squad though so never fear :D

I can't wait to see Anderson and Cleverly back together in the centre, we looked fantastic going forward with these two. IO'd start Anderson tomorrow, seal a goal or two, then bring him off after 60 minute's. it's a good shift for him, and let's him play his part.

His new hair do is miles better as well, none of them stupid locks flying in his face when he's turning around like a lunatic with a ducks ****, it can only improve his performance :P

Parker is over rated.

Overrated at what? aggresive, box to box tackler who can put in the shift, break up the play and initialise attacks by feeding to his creative partner?

I can't think of other's that do his job so well, and theirs a reason him and Spurs are sat in 3rd position, when he and Adebayor were the 2 major(Only?) additions in the summer

Would also add England have looked a lot more assured since he started playing in the middle too.

Fridel + a fit Leadly King.

King can play more because the ball doesnt get to him as much, due to parker being a machine.

?

Been playing well away, drawn to many at home 4 draws 1 win 4 losses, Sunderland are nothing special, yeah they beat City but hardly played amazing.

Yeah, agree, only reason sunderland won that game was because city were woeful tbh sunderland hardly put in an inspired display, the most reasonable thing I've seen you post cheets

yeah there was a rumour floating around that Anderson's injury was just pr, to give him time to get some of his weight off (which he seems to have done). Have no idea if there is any truth to it however (but playing at least 4 weeks early is a minor miracle if he did have as serious an injury as originally stated)

I was hoping to get at least some proper update on Cleverley by now as surely he is due to at least start training soon (according to the last update from Fergie a month or so ago) , last I heard specifically was "festive season" for a return.

Dont want him rushed back per se, but would love to know how he is doing.

After so many different English (int) managers, if Parker is so good - why do you think he hasnt got that many caps (it cant JUST be for his horrendous injury record surely?). I know he has had to compete with Lamps and Gerrard (and Scholes up until a few years ago), but even so if he was that good he should have been capped a lot more than 10 times imo

Good (and reasonably cheap) aquasition for Spurs, but I wouldnt say he was amazing (clearly behind Scholes / Lamps /Gerrard over the years, even if the latter two never really worked well together)

play a player in their natural position shocker.

Id take townsend who I agree isnt 1st team material, Over VDV on the right any day. would be stupid not to. He will be a good backup, we should ahve sued him rather than plonking VDV on the right and messing the shape up

it's had it's positives for us, it's made us be more creative through the centre instead of relying on lennon and bale flying down the flanks though i would and do prefer that system, it's our best system. walker can and does get extremely far forward, as does BAE. we have options and we have depth but losing lennon is what rocked our tried and tested shape, good to show we can adjust.

Will gladly take a 1-0 win tonight, We proved we can match City last time and imo should have won.

Be interesting to see if we start Suarez cause if we dont id assume were not appealing his ban if he does god knows whats going on.

Yup, parker might not be a modric, but modric isn't a scott parker, parker is the type of player every team wants/needs in the centre

The great thing about Parker is that he knows his limitations. He doesn't try 40 yard Hollywood balls or mazy runs; he simply tackles the opposition and then gives the ball to one of the team's more technically able players.

Still be strange if he misses tonight but plays next game since he has no known injury etc.

I was just responding to the "if he does god knows whats going on" part of your post. He can start in any of the games up until the 13th and still appeal (or decide not to).

The only logical reason for not starting him tonight would be if we've already let it be known we're not appealing and his ban would start straight away. I'd assume we'd have known about that if it was the case though.

edit: and as I say that, the club have decided not to appeal :p
