The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I tried my trademark mace to the face but it didn't work, by default you can't kill children. :( What the hell is that all about? By the way - they all have the same faces so I'm assuming that the Skyrim Gene Pool is more of a Gene Puddle....

Will be a mod for that at some point I guess, they did such a half arsed job with kids. And Tbh I think its a Bethesda Trademark to make kids un-killable to avoid angering certain people with sticks up their arse, and to then make said children as irritating as possible!

Who remembers "Oh look, another wanderer come to lick my fathers boots" in Dragonsreach?

Ive got some reading to do as I still dont get why this Nexus mod manager thing is needed.

Ive installed about 10 mods with no problems and game running smooth as silk? In fact entire Skyrim installation is backed up on 2 DVDs & an external HD.

I did read somewhere that the mod manager is optional so I guess I might keep going without it if I can help it!

It's not needed. It just makes it easier to uninstall things after you're done with them.

Its just the old mod manager for Oblivion but with bells and whistles. Lets you do all the normal stuff like sorting out the load order, importing mods/OMODs and launching the script extender version of the game, along with acting as a link to download directly from the nexus site and install the mod at the touch of a button and remove it once you're done.

You don't need it... it just makes things easier. It does have issues with mods that use optional .esps and such though in its current state but hopefully that would be sorted out in the future.

Has anyone else got that annoying glitch with Farkas in Whiterun?

Everytime i go near the Guild, he chases after me and keeps talking to me.
Even when i am talking to a different character, his speech bubble overrides whom i am talking to.
I ended up having to kill him

edit.
I also recognised Max Von Sydow's voice as Esbern, its very distinctive

Waking Nightmare

I have finally finished "Waking Nightmare" after the bloke I was meant to follow glitched and kept sticking when heading towards the library to unlock the door. He kept sticking on the stairs up.

I have been stuck on it for a few days.

For anyone having this problem use relenting force to get him to the door edge and then repeatedly run into him eventually he opened the door and I completed the quest - Killing him at the end :) mwah haha

I am in love with Lydia but, her sarcastic tone of "I am here to carry YOUR burdens!" is starting to **** me off, I swear she just rolled her eyes at me!!!

Have you tried speaking to her or getting her to do something for you when you've broken into a place? She changes from subservient to bossy and angry and says " YOU'RE not supposed to BE here!" and won't help you while you're in there.

Thanks for this u lot :D Kinda put my fears to rest. Ive been reading so much about it and got the impression that youre in the soup if you didnt use it! Ive mostly got texture mods and other little "tweaker" mods (more branches on tress, wet-looking rocks in rivers and that sort of thing). The biggest mod Ive got is SKyrim HD. Game runs like a dream and this is when I imaged the entire installation to DVD so Ive got a good backup of when things were running fine.

Wondering if anyone plays this on GTX 580 @ 1920x1080 on ultra?

Getting average 36fps outside. LOL.

My old 4870 could probably do 20fps at that res/detail.

There is a mod on Skyrim Nexus that removes the bottlenecks in certain parts and is supposed to work pretty good.

If its compatible with no problems as far as the mod manager goes then its probably a good idea to use texture mods through it. Least that way if you have problems with it you can uninstall it easily instead of having to delete things manually.

Have any of you guys had a situation where you have killed a certain person and they either fall on their front and you can't search them or where they totally disappear and the arrow is where they died but you can't get from them what you need?
