Then it's quite clearly rubbish, because here is my score from a stock I7 950 with my card at 1000mhz. It crashes if I go any higher.

As I said before a friend of mine runs an I5 2500k @ 4.6ghz with his 7970 @ 1100mhz score well over ten thousand.

If you look at the game benchmarks the GTX680 is only around 27% faster than a GTX580. This is less than the GTX280 to GTX480 transition,the HD4890 to HD5870 transition and the HD6970 to HD7970 transition.

I call bias on the benchmarks.

Obviously it's not reading the 7970 clocks correct, check other results in there and even in our own 3Dmark11 thread, 7970s at 1300Mhz are doing around P10600 score, and try to look at the GPU score only as the overall score can be influenced greatly by CPU type and speed.

Man I am excited to see the reviews.

I am really interested to see how it runs at higher resolution. I dont think it will beat a 7970 by a great deal if at all above 1080p.

They're quite clearly biased, Dave.

Right from the bloody word go. I'm desperately trying to make people understand that before they rush out and buy a card.

China has a track record for allowing things like that to happen. Their internet is heavily censored and they only see what the govt wants them to see.

CTF mentioned something along those lines before. I would imagine the sole reason those benchmarks are on a Chinese website is because that's the only place they will hold any water at all.

So again, I reiterate.

To the wonderful guys and gals @ OCUK.

Please, please please please please wait for the cards to be released and reviewed and benchmarked fairly and properly.

Please just trust me on that. I spent four years running a telemarketing company's sales division, and I am fully aware of all of the underhand tactics that go on. Sadly I am actually still under an NDA (it was a seven year one) so I can't go into exactly what these tactics are.

I think pricing is just as important as performance. Sure 7970 is a huge jump from 6970 performance wise, but so is the price (at around 50% increase in price).

Was the 7970 used in testing in the same set up? I doubt it.

Tom has a habit of getting excited, though. He also has a track record of being nasty about a company, only to then change his tune when they refuse to send him anything else.

Tom is a good guy, but, Tom is a salesman

Most reviewers are.

I have found that the most miserable, cynical and nasty review site there is is bit-tech.

In fact, recently they did an article called "When was 8 out of 10 a bad score?" and it was about the hatred being aimed at their reviewers by fan boys of certain games. They were insulted that their beloved game only scored an 8.

Another example. The 7850 and 7870. Bit-tech have out right refused to give them a score until they know the prices. Not many sites cared.

Well your friend must have a very special 7970 because according to the results at futuremark and in threads on here a 1100Mhz 7970 does way below 10k. At futuremark all 7970s doing 10k+ are at 1100Mhz+

That's because their method of doing score is weighting performance vs feature vs value...without the proper pricing, how can they give a score?

And I don't know why you think pricing don't matter. Take the 7770 for example...if it was priced at around £70-£80, then it is a great card; at £130+...it is poo.

This card is not the new GTX580. It is the new GTX560 but has simply been remained the GTX680 because of it's circa 80-100% performance boost over the 560's. NVidia thinks that it's mainstream card is good enough to wear a top-end name tag and compete with the 7970. In pure apples for apples terms, the performance leap appears immense.
