*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

I love this thing. So much better than the iPad 1

Little thing I noticed is the speakers are so much better to. When did they get a boost

Really, I preferred the speakers/sound quality on iPad one, there's only one speaker hole on one side of the iPad which is pretty poor really since handhelds like the vita have two.

I do like the quality of some of the apps but I am missing a home and multitasking soft buttons. Great to have Sky Go and Sky Sports News working and they do look good. I'm sitting here reading ingear at the moment. :D

As said, the gestures are absolutely brilliant and I think they are just about all that's needed in most cases!

I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed. ICS improved tablet experience no end but this is definitely even better. The browser is much stronger and the apps are of a higher quality.
I just wish Apple would update iOS significantly as a grid of icons is just awful. I end up having folders full of 'stuff' that I don't even want on display as such like little utility apps etc. The sooner they sort out widgets the better, if iOS 6 brings significant changes in this regard it might even tempt me to an iPhone 5.

I feel dirty :(.

Jailbreaking will make your life easier ;)

Is everyone using Safari, do people not get annoyed having to scroll down to bottom of threads constantly? I used Mercury browser on my iPad1 and that had a two finger gesture to get to the bottom of the page, so useful when browsing. Wish Safari had this

It is a bit annoying. I guess I'm getting used to mega flick flick flick down the page, but 2/3 finger swipe would be better. Likewise for left-right swipe to go back and forth, I don't like reaching for the button allllll the way at the top lol.

Considering there are some multi touch gestures implemented I don't know why there aren't more.

Dolphin browser has customisable gestures.

Only thing that holds me back is I'm sure Safari was the quickest browser, back in the days on my iPad 1 I think various tests were done and it had the quickest response times, not sure now? Might try another browser as long as Dolphin has a static bookmark bar.

I have Dolphin and Atomic browser installed on mine but haven't touched either for ages, tend to just stick with Safari. Really should give them a proper go.

This is my biggest gripe.

Had Mercury browser on my iPhone, might give it a try here.

Never used anything apart from Safari. I tried things out but always went back to Safari. It's the default browser which helps and obviously can't be changed on iOS. I have no problems with it, what you mentioned would be nice but I don't find it that annoying (or I use the 'go to last post' button.

What I only found out like half way through having my ipad 1 is that clciking the status bar takes you to the top of a page.

anyone use a BT keyboard with their iPad ?

just done my first ever facetime call to my brother, my mum answered and was amazed you can to facetime, now she wants one too lol

Jus picked mine up from John Lewis... Couldn't be bothered with waiting for the states trip :)

I'm in love with the new screen!

Plenty of stock everywhere, with the exception of 32gb wifi only.

What are people's charge times like from 0-100%?
I've just done mine and it's taken 5hrs 57mins to fully charge my 64gb Wifi+4G jobby.

Edit: Charging via the included mains charger.

Wow that is literally like when incharge the iPad 1 with my iPhone charger. If I stick it on a dock it charges very quickly just over an hour I reckon. That's some serious battery increase. Impressive considering the small weight increase and tiny thickness increase!
