Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

i'm not sure about which way around you put the pins on, i've found the 4 sockets for the power on and reset/ hd led etc from the front panel.... these are 2 pins but i'm not sure which one is ``ground``

they all have a white wire and the other is always a different colour.... same goes for the fans too.... and it doesn't really say which case fans go where... i've put the front case fans on the matching pair under the cooler......

and the rear exit fan on the ``power fan`` socket above and to the left of the cooler.....

all the rest looks easy, the psu is fantastic, nice cables too.
 
I downloaded the Windows Bios 1.20, version installed without any issues.

Haven't tried the Instant Flash version & it's years since I used DOS to upgrade the bios.

just flashed all ok, forgot to enter bios after reboot and got blue screen which made me crud myself, but it had just reset the bios and enabled ide mode
 
Well mines just died goes into a boot loop power cycles and no led display on motherboard really anoyed as my 680 turned up the day New mobo ordered what's asrocks rma support like
 
Ok so I think the ethernet port on mine has gone :(

Just got my M4 SSD RMA through and reinstalled Windows, but after downloading the LAN drivers from Asrock, it just won't work at all. Device Manager seems to see it ok, but installing the drivers does nothing. Tried installing drivers directly from Broadcoms website, but again no joy.

Cable and router aren't the problem as I tried plugging my laptop into them and it worked fine. No sign of lights coming from it and the router isn't reporting anything being plugged into it either. Tried booting with Ubuntu to see if the OS just didn't install correctly, but nothing either. :(

Anyone had this problem? Will just get a cheap Gigabit LAN card if the problem is hardware related, but if anyone could shed any light on this, that would be great.

asrock support is good from what i hear, so had you tried plugging the card in and that was what caused it? tried resetting the cmos? also before you do post it off make you try it outside the case one final time...

PS the naughty way to deal with this issue is to buy another one and the claim it DOA and send them back your one, lot quicker than RMA'ing but i would never do that :(

yes have seen that before in dell laptops, i had to rebuild 50+ and every now and then it would happen, if you have a spare drive do a quick reinstall of windows and see if it works, i take it you have run windows update? as sometimes the default windows ones go and cause issues, have you also tried 'uninstalling from device manger' and then rebooting and let windows try again?

Haven't ran Windows Update as I can't connect to the internet. Tried a wireless USB stick, but don't have the drive disk up here with me :(

Will give it a reinstall tomorrow on the SSD. Its a fresh install anyway, so no harm in wiping and trying again. Have all the drivers, applications and what not backed up anyway :)
 
So i have finally got my xtreme4 gen3 setup now with a 2500k and running at 4.5ghz after using the settings from someone a few pages back on the thread ;) and all seems stable as i was playing new vegas & skyrim for hours last night without any probs , the only problem i have is in device manager it has video controller in other devices but not sure what that is ??? its not the onboard gfx's is it ??? as a quick test i ran superpi 1m and my old core duo2 used to do it in 15 seconds and this did it in 8.42 seconds these cpu's fly :D .

I would imagine it is the OBV driver. did you not install all drivers? also windows updates should have picked up the OBV driver and put the latest one on for you also. what do you have in device manager in your display adaptors section?

I have a nvidia gtx260 card until i can afford a new one and the drivers are installed fine for it and shows in the display adaptor section this video controller is in other devices section .
