Come to paps baby

PS: WTF at the 4 week lead time for us? Same config in the US is 5 days. Sad.

Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter [+ £25.00]

What a joke.

That and the announced (but missing) Firewire adaptor should be chucked in for free.

I'm quite relived that Apple were not stupid enough to go the USB route for Ethernet, and had the foresight to not kill off the "Classic" MBP. Writing is on the wall though, I expect it gone next update. Soldered on RAM is not the future however.

I'm still happy I got mine after the late-2011 update, just in case they ****** it up royally.

Hmmmm what to do now, I decided to wait for a new iMac to be released, and have now waited for around 4 months!

Tough call. I'd wager on September (Back to School) or Christmas time for the iMac and Mac Pro updates.

If you need one, then buy it now. There's always something new and shiny and supposedly better just around the corner.

Hmm, would have been interested in an 11" MBA with retina, I don't really want to go to 15" though so i'll hold fire for now.

Why do Apple have to be so awkward? lol
Entry level MBP NG is £1,528.80 on HE store - 2.3Ghz Quad Core but you can't upgrade the SSD in it, to do that you need to get the 2.6GHz version for £1,953.60. I don't particularly need the extra GHz but a bigger SSD from 256GB would have been fine in the lower model. *Grumbles*

Yep, restore and point to the IPSW to go back to 5.1.1 (which I have just done this morning and am waiting for my backup to go over on)

Wanted to try iOS6 out as a daily driver, especially with the facebook integration but one app i rely on (bus e-ticket app) crashes on startup so useless for me at the moment.

Was fully prepared for apps to crash and wouldn't have cared if it was any other one but that :(

Does any one else think it's odd that they've killed off the 17" MBP?

That, along with the uninspiring spec-bump to the Mac Pro, and it appears that they are leaving their professional customers behind.

Probably makes a lot of sense from a business point of view, but having lived with a 17" laptop for four years, I wouldn't want to go any smaller.

Having said that, the 17" MBP has meant I've had no use for a desktop or an iPad, as it fits nicely in between the two.

What have they actually updated on the Mac Pro?

The machines at work currently are running 2x X5680 (3.33Ghz) processors but it looks like the highest spec on the new ones is the X5675 processor (3.06Ghz).

The new Mac Book Pro looks awesome though!

Edit, ignore me, our current systems are 2.93ghz, so all they've done is added the 3.3 option.

Some good details about the screen over at Anand, here and here.

Cheers, reading this states the resolutions you have access to are:

1024 x 640
1280 x 800
1440 x 900 (default)
1680 x 1050
1920 x 1200

I would probably use 1920x1200 (although I can't justify one of these machines at the moment :( )
