Im confused, that mac book laptop notebook or whatever they call it said it had a retina display at 220 something dpi.. I thought to be classed as retina it had to be over 300 ?
I know the whole retina thing is just marketing speak but it all seems a bit vague ?

It is some what of a marketing speak ****, but it basically means the dpi needed so that you cant tell the difference between each pixel, it varies depending on the size of the device and the distants you use it from.

Just wondering why iOS never had the same google maps that was on android and bbm, was it google or apple?

Probably a bit of both really. Edit, actually Apple made the Maps app themselves and only used the Google Maps backend. Google didn't do anything.

Worth noting that in the Apple Maps you wont have transit directions, bike directions, walking directions, and Street View.

I see, I personally think google maps are amazing, and it has always blown me how great it works. Hope to see something of the same from these new maps :D.

Yes!! You can get 2007 MBPs (the ones without the black bezel round the screen) for under £300 if you're patient. Good core2duos, runs Lion well and an SSD would make it excellent.

Thanks, will keep an eye out on the market..

Just waiting for my dev account to renew - I can register some devices if needed though will start a new thread for this.

Will this be like the IOS screen upgrades? When they quadrupled resolution on iPhone and on iPad they just quadrupled the size of all things on screen so the amount of "real estate" you see is the same.

Is this different because it is on a desktop OS? i.e. would my MBP that is 1440*900 (1/4 of retina) show the same amount of a webpage or itunes etc.

Please tell me the 3D maps are going to be improved over this... (Apparently Nokia use the same mapping provider as Apple are).
