Hey chaps, with my apologies in advance if this is a bit off-topic, is anyone here running Skyrim with ENB and high resolution texture mods and achieving 60fps? If so what're your specs? My poor 480 can only sustain 30fps (with infrequent but significant stuttering, presumably when it runs out of VRAM) so I'm musing an upgrade. I've taken a quick look through this thread and ToejaMz0r seems to get good performance with a 3GB 7970 but I'm open to discussion

My setup:
2500K @ 4.7GHz
8GB @ 1600MHz C8
ASUS GTX 480 1.5GB at stock clocks

Skyrim:
1920x1080
8xAF
No AA, FXAA enabled
All Detail options as high as they'll go
All view distance sliders maxed out
Serious HD retexture
Skyrim HD 2K
ENB with bokeh DOF, Chromatic abberation and colour correction

I do achieve 60 fps in most parts but can dip into the 40s but goes straight back up again.

I'm using what is in my sig along with a Gigabyte 990FXa-UD3 mobo.

With Skyrim 2K installed you'll need more than 1.5GB. I have the same mod, as well as high res npc clothing and some other stuff, and I'm averaging around 2.5GB per card on SLI 580's.

ENB has a massive knock on in areas like the forest at the back end of Riften. I don't use it. Not entirely sure but I think that has more to do with clock speeds than vram. Someone will have to confirm.

I have the same CPU as you so we have fairly similar set ups apart from the gpu.

It is incredibly easy to get Skyrim to look fantastic.

This took me a couple of tries to get it looking like this, but this contains pretty much every single texture replaced to at least 4096 resolution, Climates of Tamriel and Profject ENB. Those last 2 mods are a must in my opinion for anything playing Skyrim.

Can you link all graphical mods you are using?

What mods are you using LateX'Dog in addition to Climates of Tamriel and Project ENB?

Sure.

This picture, everything that is ticked is enabled. Combied Textures is the .7z file from the texture combiner listed below this.

Then i use this:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20801/

Follow everything this guy says to the letter and download all the mods he lists (apart from project parallax as this is discontinued). This is the most time consuming part, but make sure you do this 100% correctly.

Also download SKSE: (Skyrim Script Extender) Use this to load the game, otherwise some of the mods wont work.

http://skse.silverlock.org/

Then download and install BOSS:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6

Run this after you have installed all the mods and let it sort your load order out. Also read what it tells you, sometimes mods installed multiple .esp files and you only need 1 loaded.

Then download and follow this guys instructions. (Best ENB if your using Climates of Tamriel):

Bingo, your done :)

Skyre is a pretty hard mod on Normal, so don't be ashamed to reduce the difficulty :p

Same here mate. I played 14 hours and then put it too one side but have since got back into it and never understood why I stopped it in the first place. I have put the main quest on hold whilst I go around and level my character up.

Level 100 on sneak by using the greybeard trick, just need one handed, block and two handed now :)

Its a glitch to max out sneaking, ruins a game like Skyrim.

Does anyone know how to make SkyRe hard later on? I did struggle at first but now I'm level 20 I think with Orcish Armor, everythings just laughable, even magic barely hurts me, any ideas?

max difficulty
wear normal town clothes instead of armour
use your fists rather than a weapon
don't use perks

that makes it hard :p

Greybeard trick?

Yeah enter sneak and just punch a greybeard in the back continuously and you will level up. I admit is boring s hell tho.

ruins a game like Skyrim.

Some people don't have time in their lives to devote to leveling up thru normal gameplay. Plus it is a matter of opinion to whether it "ruins" the game ;)

Get the magic balance mod, that vastly improves magic combat. Mages become crazy hard at times.

Why would need a glitch to max out sneaking? It is one of the easiest skills to get to 100 by just playing.

As others have said, set the combat difficulty to Master. It is under Settings > Gameplay.

Is that the mod that boosts spell power 15% per mastery rank? I think thats intergrated into SkyRe isn't it?

I am on Master, its inconsistant but incredibly easy at the minute, I mean that I took on a Steam Centurion with little problem, but then a bunch of Stormcloaks one shotted me. I seem to shrug off Giant's whenever they hit me yet some of the wildlife do considerable damage. I'm not sure if the mod is working properly.

I'm yet to try much of the Dawnguard content though.

As an archer, what star sign should I have? I feel like I am leveling up FAR to fast. I am almost level 10 and I have barely done anything. Currently using the Thief stone.
