So my 8mth old Cat got run over......

I'm not trolling. I was simply stating a fact. You own a cat. You let the cat roam the streets for most of the day. It will probably come home when it wants to be fed. Then it roams the streets again. And then you cat people complain when the dam thing gets run over. What do you expect?

I'm sure a lot of people would agree with you but there's a time and place and this is neither. A bit of sensitivity is called for.

your actually incorrect, my two cats spend very little time outside and they can go out whenever they want. they sleep inside most all of the day pop out for a few hours in the eve (either in the garden or over the road) and then come back and sleep again.

people who seem to think cats roam the streets doing as they please 24/7 clearly have never had any cats! even cats that roam outside more just tend to sit on a fence near to their property.

using your analogy once you apply the more realistic scenario above - any parent that lets their children out to play then gets into an accident , means no-one should complain there either.

anyway back on topic: congrats on the good recovery so far!

With all the best intentions in the world am i missing something here? Do your cats look left and right before they cross over the road?

albert - how about you take that rather large chip on your shoulder elsewhere, hmm?

Not exactly the time or the place is it? use your head...

If I was hit by a car and in a bad way, I'd hope somebody wouldn't euthanize me on the off chance I wouldn't make it.

Best of luck, stay strong because he doesn't seem so bad in the pictures, hope he pulls through!

P.S total sig bomb in the post above me. :p

Yeah this, I really don't get why people are so quick to resort to euthasia when animals are hurt. Things like "but it's suffering, it's wrong that anything suffers".

The cat's got a crushed pelvis, imagine how you'd feel with that, I know I'd feel crap and I'd be suffering, but it's in no way a reason to consider euthasia just because there's suffering present.

In life we suffer to some degree, it's just the way things are.

Not all of this is aimed at the OP specifically.

So we should expect any living creature that spends extended periods of time outside, to be ran over by cars, just because they spend a lot of time outside?

So people who work outside, they should be expecting to be ran over too?

Do you have learning difficulties?

Great news i really hope he recovers :) and albert you know there are such things as non house cats yeh? what do you expect owners of these cats to do .. follow their cat around the neighbourhood? You're the only one here complaining.

Hope he's doing well this morning, and the vet appointment goes ok.

For the record Albert, my two go out for maybe a few hours, are shut in at night, and most definitely are still pooing and peeing in the house, I know because I have to clear it up every day.

Give it a rest hey, or take your views somewhere people do care.

Keep us posted. :)

Having grown up with and around cats and dogs for the last 30+ years, and having had a cat and a dog hit by cars I know the feeling far too well.

Albert is just a whiny keyboard warrior with nothing better to do than troll a thread which he clearly isn't interested in contributing to. Hopefully he won't post in here again...

That the most ridiculous thing I've ever read in a long time. So your telling me a cat and 'people working outside' have an equal understanding of the green cross code. Are you for real?

To be fair - lots of kids get run over every year. His point isn't as invalid as you'd think.

The issue isn't that cats get run over, its the irresponsible drivers just leave the poor animals at the side of the road.

In most cases if action had been taken immediately the animals would have survived, but being left at the side of a road just makes things worse.

Glad to hear Archie is on the mend, hope he makes a full and speedy recovery, he'll be back to bouncing off the walls in no time :)
