The GTX280 was $649 in 2008. (£1 = $2.00) = £380 (17.5%Vat)
The GTX480 was $499 in 2010. (£1 = $1.50) = £360 (15%Vat)
The GTX580 was $499 in 2010/11. (£1 = $1.60) = £375 (20%Vat)
The GTX680 was $499 in 2012. (£1 = $1.58) = £378 (20%Vat)
The GTX780 was $650 in 2013. (£1 = $1.55) = £503 (20%Vat)

Inflation has gone up a lot between the 480 release and the 680 release, still going up at the moment but at slower rate, maybe this is just catch up where the relative prices should be

all in one rather than progressively.

What the retailers put on the price is up to them.

So many think like myself? I've already given consideration to people with multi-screen setups which is why I said it would have been worth waiting "for most". True we are entitled to our own opinions but I'm not disagreeing with you - just that I know a fair share of owners who would have got a 780 instead if they had to choose now.

What was this supposed to prove? The last three GTX X80 cards have been $499 and now this one is $650. That isn't inflation, that is pricing it at $150 more :confused:

I was just writing down the numbers out of curiosity, not everything people post on forums has to have meaning...if that was the case forums would be empty space lol

I also left this at the end of my post.

It's not unheard of where the manufacturers/retailers swallow the costs of inflation till the consumer has a healthier wallet/bank balance. Obviously all of this is conjecture.

mmmmmmm i wanted 2 of these babys but water cooled, think i shall have to wait untill pricing settles and the water blocks become available before i commit to anything.

£499.00 would have been a nice price to see, plus my bro lives in the US so will get him to purchase and send me a gift!

I shall stick to my Sli 680's for now me thinks!

I play 1080p 120hz so 3Gb VRAM is enough for me. It feels like NV have seen me coming, but my 780 arrives tomorrow (assuming DPD don't derp again) regardless. Quite looking forward to it. Next complete waste of money is an upgrade for my ageing i7 970 to raise that minimum fps up a bit.

Thought it's always how it goes with pricing around here- UK price (with VAT inc.) always seem to be around US price minus $50-$60, and then turn the $ sigh into £

Converting dollars to pounds and then add VAT? Na...it's never gonna work like that, unless it is lower end cards, or cards that's been launched for at least around 2-3 months
