you can tell just by looking and feeling the vaporbreak charger and plug adapter that they arent safe for use, mine went straight in the bin. terrible quality

Agreed, but funds are particularly tight at the moment and the only charger I can find for these type of batteries is £25. If someone has a link to a cheaper, proper UK charger, I'd be much obliged.
Obviously I can't put a price on my family's safety, so if that's the going rate, I'll have to pay it...

You need a quality charger for 18350's and 18650's. As you have found, a cheap charger doesn't cut the mustard.

I went for the Efest double charger. For the £20, it's a good safe charger with two charging modes and it cuts off when fully charged at 4.2v, so it has built in protection, something yours didn't.

Pay around that and you'll get a good charger.

If an intellicharger is out of budget, some people here have the Xtar WP2 charger which is around £13 from ebay UK and supposed to be good.

I didn't think the charger itself was actually that bad - it did stop charging when full, it was just the nasty adapter that was sent that has caused the issue.
I'll take a look around at some decent chargers, and get hold of some proper batteries.

I'm also going to need the home address of whoever told me vaping would save me money... This upgraditis is doing anything but...

I have the intellicharger i4 from Fasttech as schochioso linked to. It's great but you will have to wait a while for it to arrive. I think the cheapest UK alternative would be the Xtar if you don't want to spend £25 for an i4 from the UK. There's also an i2 which you may want to look for to save some cash.

I'm with you there RedMogg! Whoever told you that was lying! :D Can't put a price on your health though.

Just thought I'd say. These people buying ecigs that use 18650 batteries. Be sure you all know how to look after them.

Last thing you want is one of those babies blowing up in ya face.

I have unprotected ones for my fenix flashlight...but I know what I'm doing.

Not saying you don't...just be careful...

Buy a multimeter and make sure it doesn't charge above 4.2 or drop below 3.5ish.

Just some friendly advice.

Thanks for the advice. It's good of you to help.

Most of the devices unprotected 18650s are used in are those with protection circuits built in. The mechanical mods don't have this so protected batteries are recommended.

I've not received my 18650s yet but my 18350 batteries charge to 4.2V but stop to function at around 3.2/3.3V. Should I be charging them well before this time and what can happen if I let them discharge to below 3.5V in protected/non-protected devices?

Like Hamster said most devices people are using will have protection in them. I totally agree with you that you need to be careful as the amount of power if the battery vents out is massive. Going by people that have had issues on forums it is mostly people shorting the battery in their pocket with coins and/or keys.

Still important to let new users know the risks so thank you for that.

On the cost thing I have saved a lot. I've also spend a lot but less than tobacco would have cost. With vaping you spend a lot in one go. With smoking it is money everyday. I think it is just how our brains work, spending >20 sit and think about it <10 you don;'t think and just buy. Something like that anyway.

@ Hamster, i just saw this and thought of you, over buying that litre of Nic base from the US ;):p

"I'm going to start buying some each month and popping it in my chest freezer, but I need someone to check my maths.

I based this on If I had 75mg base. I vape 15mg juice which is 2ml in a 10ml mix. By this 1000ml of ejuice would use 200ml of nic base so 1ltr of nic base would make up 5000ml of ejuice or 5 ltrs.

At 3ml per day 5000ml lasts for 1666.666r days or 4.5 years!!!! Is my maths right????"

Lol now that is what i call buying in bulk :D:p

:D I saw that post earlier today too :)

It's identical to my situation apart from the fact that I'm planning to start with 18mg strength in my mixes so theoretically it should last a bit under 4 years making the grand assumptions that all my juices are vapeable, I vape the same amount of the same strength every day and I don't use pre-made liquids :) Oh and also unless I have any major nic disasters!

Having started at 24mg which I don't regret as it took me off the fags, I'm using mainly 18mg juice at the moment and the plan is to gradually cut down over time. Only problem with buying so much nic is that it commits me to vaping for a long period, though If I do decide to stop, I'm sure it won't be difficult to get rid of the nic.

Hmm, problem...

It seems the UK adaptor for the battery charger, supplied by VaporBreak.com with their Vamo V2 Kit is one to watch; CAREFULLY...

Have sent the above photos to their site contact address to let them know.
Obviously, this has happened just now, so VapourBreak.com haven't had a chance to get back to me - I'll update this post when I hear from them.

I just wanted to let this forum know, as I'm aware a few of us have taken advantage of the site's excellent Vamo price.

Now, anyone got a 650 charger, near Portsmouth, that I could borrow, preferably without the fire risk?:D

That exact same thing happened to me yesterday with the same adapter I got from Vaporbreak with the Vamo!!!!

I can send you some I've only used once or twice if you like  :D

When you get the cartos, they are protected on either side by disposable silicone caps, normally known as condoms. No need for a trip down the family planning clinic :D

There are some really good videos on how to prime cartos and how to use them in tanks. Have a look on youtube. There was one really good Pbusardo video but I can't seem to find it at the moment. I'll have another look tomorrow.

I managed to get my F16/Carto/Tank rolling and I find it better then the kanger Pro Tank. I cant smoke them much because for some reason even 8mg of Nic rapes my throat it seems the month i had away from smoking made my throat hate the stuff! So ive got some 4mg Nic juice which vapes good.

Either way i like the carto/tank better!!! The Protank is great though I wont dismiss it! lol.

I catch mine at 3.7v personally.

Going that low (3.3v) regularly will shorten the lifespan and lead to issues on recharge typically. A good rule to follow is if you go above 4.2v or below 3.5 you have devalued your limbs ;-)

I prefer to keep within that range.

Tbh though i think you were right to do it, it cost me £15 for just 100ml so u saved a good bit, and u never know, if u invent a nice juice u could start selling it.
I started at 18mg, then down to 12mg, my DIY mixes are at 10mg and going to stick there for the forseeable future. Not in a hurry to stop Vaping, but u never know.
You going to split it up before freezing?

@ the guys who bought off Vaporbreak/Fasttech, its well documented on all the vaping forums, DO NOT use the supplied batteries/chargers that come with the Vamo's, they are a serious fire risk.
U can buy proper batteries/chargers off the same sites ;)
