Red 2. I'd give it 5.5/10. I like the idea and the plot is perfectly functional if completely unoriginal. The majority of the cast does a great job, which is no surprise as they're all accomplished actors. It's all ridiculous pulp, but you could give people like Malkovich and Mirren practically anything and they can sell it. Anthony Hopkins is, of course, excellent. The weak link? Mary Louise Parker. I've come to this off the back of The West Wing so I'd probably already had enough of her hot-but-annoying angle. She just isn't up to it compared to the rest of the cast. Everyone else manages to play the whole ludicrous affair pretty straight but she just grated because she wasn't up to it.
Some of the CGI in the action scenes wasn't great.
The action was pretty good, if patently absurd and unrealistic. As if a 2CV could keep up with a lightweight motorbike... The fight scene between the assassin and the Russian Police where he's got the freezer door handcuffed to him was good. And the blue Lotus that cropped up at the end was beautiful.
