What film did you watch last night?

Red 2. I'd give it 5.5/10. I like the idea and the plot is perfectly functional if completely unoriginal. The majority of the cast does a great job, which is no surprise as they're all accomplished actors. It's all ridiculous pulp, but you could give people like Malkovich and Mirren practically anything and they can sell it. Anthony Hopkins is, of course, excellent. The weak link? Mary Louise Parker. I've come to this off the back of The West Wing so I'd probably already had enough of her hot-but-annoying angle. She just isn't up to it compared to the rest of the cast. Everyone else manages to play the whole ludicrous affair pretty straight but she just grated because she wasn't up to it.

Some of the CGI in the action scenes wasn't great.

The action was pretty good, if patently absurd and unrealistic. As if a 2CV could keep up with a lightweight motorbike... The fight scene between the assassin and the Russian Police where he's got the freezer door handcuffed to him was good. And the blue Lotus that cropped up at the end was beautiful.

The Wolverine 4/10

Hugh Jackman was pretty decent but I found myself bored most of the film and the best part was the mid credit short setting up the new X-Men, which says a lot.

Kick Ass (the first one) - 7/10

Loved it for the intro scene with Nic Cage and Hit-Girl standing in a car park; ending felt a bit weak but overall was enjoyable.

Side Effects

Quite enjoyed this thriller. It has a twisting narrative that leads to a surprising ending given the start. Worth a watch.

The wolverine 6/10
Yet another hero loses his powers
Mind in hollywoodland it doesn't seem to matter. Things like gunshot wounds only hurt in the scene when you receive them!

The Conjuring - 9/10

Brilliant, an old school type of horror film and really creepy, you could tell the whole cinema audience were **** scared :)

Oblivion - Tom Cruise -

Wow i knew very little about it and i was quite pleased with the film pretty much until 3/4 through and it went a little bit retard.

Wish i saw it at he cinema, would have been nicer to see some of the big scenery and large scale backdrops. Arty and stylish.

Dark Skies

Creepy Sci-Fi about an American family who start to get unwelcome visitors during the night. Well directed and worth a watch.

Only god forgives

Awful awful awful film, very disappointed as i love drive. I would even go so far as to say it was one of the worst films i have ever seen.

1/10 (and that's only because of the cinematography)
