Rome 2 : Total War

Just played for 4 hours straight and had like 10 turns lol .

Playing on extreme also and i haven't experienced any of this slow down and crap performance . Specs if any are wondering

i5 3570k @ 3.4ghz
8gb DDR3
660ti 2gb OC

also are people having problems with this slowdown when its on SSD aswell ??


Gonna start a new campaign once i get a proper hang of it

I'm not sure about the capture point thing..

I out numbered a force 2:1. But due to most of my army having to land at the beach by the time I got there I had lost even though nothing had happened. Why would there be a capture point in the middle of nowhere and why after a certain amount of time would my army just go.. Eh, nevermind you win?!
 
The Ai is quite bad, I took a settlement with about 700 men against there 2000. They would have won if half the enemy didn't literally just stand near the capture point and just watch me take it.
I think im just gonna wait till Radious makes his mod, in the mean time ill go back to some the older Total wars.
 
One thing that is really bugging me now is how it turns into so messy melee. All these elite units can't hold their shape in combat which seems stupid as that was the way they fought.

I think the Radious Battle Mod is supposed to help with this problem, but it is awful that the game was released in this condition. This is another dev I'll be adding to the 'untrusted moneygrabbers' pile, to avoid in future.
 
Just got the game been looking forward to it for ages, and now just got to wait 6 hours for it to download due to my DVD drive playing up, and I was having a look around and just noticed you have to pay an extra £6 to use the Greek factions seriously wtf :(

Joined twcenter after pre-order and been a week trying to browse the forum but this site is the slowest I have come across where it takes 2mins to load a page, or longer. I have fast fibre so whats up with this great site?
 
Can someone with a similair spec to mine see what GPU usage they are getting? Mine does not budge past 53% and on 'Very High' settings it stays at around 12fps when zoomed in on a battle.

Mines about the same, except a 670 instead of a 7950 and I'm getting the same performance more or less, I've noticed that AA and vegetation alpha are the FPS killers.

Annoyingly though, anisotropic filtering seems to have the biggest FPS hit when it comes to having units on screen, which is god awful optimisation. :(
 
This is my 3rd disappointment with the series since MTW2. My favourite memories of the series was the castle/settlement building, with images showing what you were getting for your investments. The lighter version of this leaves me very disappointed and ultimately unfilled. Might be another E:TW and wait for 6 months to play but still not very impressed.
