Rome 2 : Total War

select spy card and press anywhere on the move to move him, it will move him and not the army, I done it many times not sure why it is not working for you

This sums the A.I. up perfectly.

Seems that two of my guys commited suicide.

Since you have mostly rank 4 units that could explain a bit of the dominance over the inexperienced enemy.

Does anybody know if it's possible to separate a spy from an army on the campaign map?

Apart from the obvious Disband command I'm not sure.

Amazon are terrible and I won't be using them for game preorders ever again.

They gave me £20 in vouchers over CityLink failing to deliver World of Warcraft Cataclysm to me when the weather was bad (snow), despite it not being Amazon's fault, it was CityLink (who were chronically under staffed when I went to pick it up, which was the reason they couldn't deliver parcels, not the snow excuse, they were openly advertising for drivers in any shape or form).

I also got a month of Amazon Prime free when they failed to deliver some speakers.

I don't think Amazon are terrible at all.

As for the game itself, the only complaint I'll add over what everyone else has already said, is that I hate how all the info in the game is now in the rome 2 encyclopaedia. Used to be, you would right click and a nice half-screen wide window would pop up showing you exactly the information you wanted, plus a nice picture and description. Now you get a fairly horrible looking window which you have to scroll around to see any info.

Also, no simple, easily readable building tree screen like there used to be. No family tree. The internal diplomacy is also actually far less interesting to me than it used to be, which is the opposite of what I was expecting. No faction intro videos. No agent videos.

Also the province wide happiness system is the most retarded idea ever. So if I have 3/4 regions in a province and then conquer the 4th, all 4 are suddenly incredibly unhappy because they've "been conquered" despite 3 of them being the cities doing the conquering?!

Also really annoying how if my ally is seiging a city I can't take it myself. I also can't ask them to leave it alone. Therefore I have to declare war on my ally just to get the city which I can use to complete my province

Even after all the graphical / frame rate / turn loading time problems are fixed, and rebalancing on the units and AI is done, there are still a HUGE number of terrible design decisions and gameplay issues which are fundamental to the way they've made the game. A lot of these don't seem like things which can be easily fixed :(

Don't know why they treated you so well. They've treated me like crap

How so?

I was polite and send a couple of emails out lining my disappointment.

That's what I did but they didn't offer me anything. Then when I specifically asked (politely) if I was entitled to compensation they ignored the question completely. Twice.

They also failed to communicate with me at all regarding the DLC code until I asked them about it. They should have sent an e-mail out as soon as they knew the code would be delayed.

They also promised me twice about when the code would arrive and both times it didn't. It only arrived today.

The overall impression is that they couldnt give a **** about providing good customer service or retaining my custom in future.

Meh. Why would you ask for compensation? I didn't and was pleasantly surprised when I did receive it.

I was just putting across how disappointed I was with the delivery on both occasions, I did so in a polite manner.

You're right, sending an email out about the delayed code would have been a good move.

It was a bonus code, so it's not like an actual item you haven't received and the delays could have been nothing to do with Amazon.

Meh. Why would you ask for compensation? I didn't and was pleasantly surprised when I did receive it.

Because I feel they should've offered me it. Also I know that other people in the same situation as me did receive it. Also I'm skint :p

If they'd e-mailed me straight away with an apology, a date when the code will be sent, and an explanation for the delay then I would've thought fair enough. But they didn't tell me any of that.

I wouldn't have expected an explanation really, just that there has been a slight delay. I mean, it's not been a long delay has it?

I have sympathy for companies when people expect compensation for something that is not directly the companies fault and then when those people get annoyed over it.

From what I've read it seems that the game just isn't finished and is broken :(, a huge shame as Rome: Total War was one of my favourite games in the series.

This is the first time I've been addicted to a problematic game that has received this much negative user feedback.

It's been so long since I played the first Total War Rome that I'm willing to go with the flow. Rome II obviously has far more depth than the easily playable CIV series that I also played at launch and its seems a bit more dumbed down in that direction to achieve broader appeal. Both require well-specced PCs but its crazy how inefficient the engine is on any hardware on release plus it looks average on Ultra, try playing with shadows on very high and enjoy those massive jaggies. Sure its a huge franchise, I can only really see the publisher Sega pushing to secure the realise date regardless of the state of the code - that's how gaming has always been , worse over the past 6 years, the trouble is they use patches as their get out of jail free card.

Would LOVE a Q&A of the experience so far of playing Rome II, no stooges, just real fans asking the team plus Sega questions in a fairly respectful manner. I can see them struggling to answer a lot of questions that would help us understand the direction they decided to take.
