Rome 2 : Total War

I quite like the semi-arcade feel, games don't last as long, good for when I want a more casual grand strategy game.

If I want more depth and realism I will just play Europa Universalis 4.

Liking R2 a lot so far, such an epic map. Graphics are pretty good, without being outstanding, although the campaign map is stunning imo. No crashing/poor framerate issues here, although I do get some slow down when zoomed right in to the frontlines of a battle.

Running extreme on an i5 2500k, HD 7850 and 8 Gb of 1600 MHz

My biggest gripe is one I've had for the entire TW series...lack of diplomacy options. Where's the 'Broker Peace' option so you can get two allies to stop fighting and the 'Threaten' option has gone too. Simple things.

why is it installing Direct x every time I play ?

Not sure but that'll be an issue with Steam and not Rome. I've had it happen with other games.

A reinstall would likely fix it or moving the folder away, deleting local content within steam and then moving the folder back and verifying the game cache.

Yep and unless I've missed it you can no longer trade settlements which seems add seeing that there are bonuses for completing a province.

You need 'tiki one steam cleaner' - stops all those boring 'steam is installing direct x' type processes when you launch a game thru steam.

it's also free

Total Mess Rome II. Runs like crap, not sure what to do to be fair. Everything I try I gain a few fps here and there. But It still sits below 30 fps most of the time. The patch yesterday did nothing.

This sums the A.I. up perfectly.

Seems that two of my guys commited suicide.

Turn off your FPS counter :).

Best advice right there TBH. Ignore the fps for the time being, I'd recommed the GEM mod to sort the filters out, other then this not a lot more can be done, generally from what i've been reading CA tend to fix their games after release, which is very poor but they have said they'll release patches once a week until 'fixed' - whatever they deem as fixed.

I've been playing the game on a 7970M and apart from this vegetation setting I've got the game set on extreme and it averages 35fps which is playable and good enough..

Does anybody know if it's possible to separate a spy from an army on the campaign map?

I had an army in enemy territory and so joined a nearby spy to reduce chances of enemy actions on my good general.

However I now cannot separate the spy! I've even tried going back to friendly territory... Am I missing something?
