*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

Noticed zavvi outlet seems to be the cheapest at the minute for this, anyone heard anything about them in terms of raising pre order prices, delivery times etc? I've never used them as I usually stick with shopto.

That might be classed as a competitor to OCUK which is against forum rules. Might want to edit out the name, but yea I went with them too. Hoping for the best :)

That's what I thought, but since Ocuk don't sell X Rebirth I don't see why that would apply here.

Preordered with them anyway since it's ridiculously cheap, fingers crossed they send it out for delivery day so we aren't waiting for days :P

AFAIR pc games are not considered ocuk's core products and only core competitors can not be listed ie people who sell pc components and systems which is how we are allowed the daily deals thread etc

Rebirth was going to be my introduction to the series. Love this type of game but never had the time in the past to sit down with any of the previous X titles. I got them all in a recent Humble Bundle - do you think it's worth sinking time into any of the X3 games before I get my hands on this considering they seem to be shaping up to be quite different?

I think it's going to be quite different but you'll probably have a slightly better understanding of the mechanics etc if you get into something like X3:TC.

I've tried the other X games and got bored quickly. Just didn't have the time to sus it all out. I know some people will go mad but I hope its dumbed down lol

So with all the pre-ordering going on, are we actually convinced this is going to any cop? The official forums have the haters and fanboi's at each others throats, especially as Egosoft do seem to be shaking things up quite a bit. There was also a 'delicious' conspiracy theory going round that originally this game wasn't even going to be part of the X universe/series, but in the end they just stamped the "X" on it to capitalise on the franchise.

I was well up for this at the start, but I find myself wondering what we're actually going to end up with.

As with Rome 2, I shall wait and see, and also start stocking up on the popcorn. :D

I don't think I will pre order this, I got heavily burnt by Rome 2's shocking state that its reminded me that I shouldn't pre order games. As such I will probably wait for reviews + peoples opinions on here :p .

I do have very high hopes for it so far though I really hope Egosoft pull it off.

Judging from the video linked earlier in this thread, I think it looks much smoother and everything seems more logical. I expect the main problem everyone is having is the whole one ship thing, which I actually think will be quite good. It'll let us get attached to the Albion and am I right in thinking you can modify it quite extensively too? Hopefully that'll be a bit deeper than the Darkstar One approach, and if it is I can see it allowing quite a bit of customisation and experimentation.

Much like Rome II tho, I expect there will be people who're so opposed to anything and everything that's done differently that their voices will drown out this thread for a few weeks after release. So yeah, grab that popcorn :P

Egosoft and Creative Assembly are both studios I'd gladly give money to even for a game that doesn't live up to their past glory. I've sunk so much time into their games and they're some of the few studios still primarily aimed at PC that it's worth it just to keep them going.

As for the single ship I was originally dubious about it but on thinking of it I pretty much always found one ship I liked in X3 and stuck with it. Usually a fast ship with enough guns to take on some of the pirate ships. Going by the early info we'll be able to modify our single ship to achieve any reasonable goal we want. Maybe not able to transport a bizzilion tonnes of goods but we'll be able to trade off speed for weapons/armour and vice versa which suits me fine!

X Rebirth will also be in a shocking state to start of with, tis an Ego tradition. :p

Thankfully Ego are quick to patch & add free content to keep the game fresh for the fans, who im pleased to say they really seem to value. :)

Nope just 1 but u can hop in drones. Which probably means modders can turn drones into proper ships and u could mod the main ship into a carrier so it makes sence that fighters launch out of u instead of drones.

But tbh, xbtf had 1 ship and that game was good. Besides ppl will also mod the main ship to whatever i.e they could hotswap other races ships for ur skunk with a sorta switcher mod or somit probably.

Wouldnt worry about the 1 ship thing at all.

Remember this isnt a x game as its typically known, they rebooted the series and only use the x name for sales really cos of their brand and yeah they use some of the lore from past x games. But should be just considered a new space trading game based on the x games.

You can tailor your ship to how you want to use it. Your going to be to busy running your empire to care about you can only fly one ship tbh.

yea when ever I played the X series I always played them like a tycoon game then got bored once I had set all my stuff up lol
